Lu Shusheng of the Ming Dynasty recommended twelve ideal tea-drinking environments in his "Cha Lao Ji", listed as "lanai, Quiet room, bright window, Qujiang River, monk's dormitory, Taoist courtyard, pine wind, bamboo moon, Yan sitting, chanting, talking, and scrolling."
