The secondary discipline of ancient Chinese history of the Institute of Ancient Books has three research directions: Pre-Qin history, Qin and Han history, and Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties history, and has established a research direction of Liao and Jin history in conjunction with the Department of History. The research direction of historical documents has three research directions: paleography, medieval documents, and ancient calligraphy documents.

The research direction of pre-Qin history includes: 1 doctoral supervisor, professor, and 1 associate professor.

The research direction of the history of Qin, Han, Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties includes: 2 doctoral supervisors and professors, 2 associate professors and 1 lecturer.

The research direction of ancient writing includes: doctoral supervisor, 3 professors, 3 associate professors, and 1 lecturer.

The research direction of historical documents includes: 1 professor, 1 associate professor, and 1 lecturer.

The research direction of calligraphy literature includes: 2 doctoral supervisors and professors.

The teacher echelon structure of the Institute of Ancient Books is reasonable. The doctoral program was implemented many years ago. There are currently 19 teachers. So far, all teachers in the Institute of Ancient Books have obtained doctorate degrees.
