Lv Dongbin is the founder of Quanzhen Sect, the mainstream of Taoism, and Lv Dongbin is not the reincarnation of anyone. He cultivated himself as an immortal.
Lv Dongbin is the ancestor of Quanzhen Sect, the mainstream Taoist Sect. His name is Dong Bin and his road name is Chun Yangzi, but Lv Dongbin often calls himself a man who answered the question.
Lv Dongbin was born in today's Ruicheng, Shanxi Province. He is from Yongle Town, Ruicheng. He wanted to tell Lv Dongbin that he was only a scholar, but when he was forty years old, he met Zheng Huolong and taught Lv Dongbin a lot of swordsmanship.
In his sixties, he met the method of alchemy taught by Zhong Liquan. After learning the Tao in Lv Dongbin, he was honored as the Sword Ancestor or the Sword Fairy by the world because he often experienced the sufferings of the people and showed kindness to all beings.
Because Lv Dongbin's way of life is very profound and loved by the people, he was invited by Tie Guai Li, the first of the Eight Immortals, and was included in the Eight Immortals at a gathering in Shisun Mountain, a famous fairy garden.
Extended information:
Lv Dongbin was a scholar in his early years. Before he abandoned his official position and left, he gave out his wealth to the poor and did many good things for the people. According to China folklore, he worshipped the immortal Zhong Liquan as his teacher during his cultivation.
after the successful cultivation of immortals, he traveled around the mountains to help the people in danger and poverty, and won the admiration of the people. After his soaring, he became manifest everywhere, leaving many legends. There is a monk named Fazhen in Kaixian Temple in Lushan Mountain. He has been meditating for 2 years, and he is quite abstinent.
One day, after he meditated, he saw a Taoist priest coming to him. The Taoist priest said to him, Zen master, do you think that Tao can be obtained only by sitting still? Fazhen replied yes.
The Taoist said: The Buddha asked his disciples to abstain from greed, anger, infatuation, lewdness and murder. Why do people only abstain from these kinds of minds when they meditate? Once the meditators get up and move, they will encounter things, so they will appear one after another and get out of control.
is it just something that makes people meditate forever? Fazhen can't justify it. So, the Taoist came to the monk's hall with Fazhen, and saw a monk sleeping in the hall. The Taoist said to Fazhen, Let's sit here for a while and observe him.
After a while, they saw a little red snake more than five inches long crawling out of the sleeping monk's head. The snake crawled along the bed and climbed to the ground along the left foot of the bed. When crawling forward, they saw sputum on the ground, swallowed it and moved on.
When I got to the toilet, I climbed to the side of the bucket and drank some urine. Then I climbed outside, passed a small ditch, and refused to leave around the flower bed. I wanted to stay here and play.
Then, the snake crossed a small ditch, and the Taoist poured a bucket of water into the ditch. When the snake saw this, it retreated, looking for its way back to the monk's hall. The Taoist stopped its way and inserted two knives into the ground to meet it. When the snake saw it, it was too scared to move forward, so it bypassed the knives and entered the hall from one side. Then it climbed onto the bed from the foot on the right side and got into the top door of the monk.
The sleeping monk immediately woke up and saw Fazhen and Taoist beside him. He said to them, "I just had a dream. At first, I dreamed that I went out through the left door. When I met a very delicate vegetarian offering, I ate it. I met wine again and drank some. Then I crossed a small river outside the door and met a group of beautiful women, so I enjoyed it for a while.
I want to cross a small river again, but I can't cross it because of the sudden surge of the river, so I turned back. When a thief tried to kill me on the road, I took a shortcut to escape from the right door and came back. When I got to the house, I woke up.
after hearing this, the Taoist priest and Fazhen laughed and left the monastery. Lv Zu said to Fazhen: This monk takes the foot of the bed as the door, sputum and urine as the offerings, a small ditch as the river, flowers and trees as the beauty, and a knife as the thief. Look, this is his fantasy.
Fazhen asked: So, what happened to the snake? The Taoist explained: The monk was vicious and angry, so he turned himself into a snake.
In the future, after his death, he will turn into a snake in the group of snakes. What a terrible thing it is. I'm Lv Yan, and I'm here to guide you because I see that you are sincere in your practice and can learn Taoism. After hearing this, Fazhen kowtowed to Lv Zu, and Lv Zu preached to him. Later, he followed Lv Zu and went to nowhere.
