The tip of the pen tip is called the pen tip, also called the pen center, and the short hair outside is called the auxiliary hair. When writing in the center, the pen tip often points to draw. In this way, the bristles are laid flat on the paper, and the stippling looks rich, round and three-dimensional.
Side strokes are eccentric, that is, when writing, the strokes are not in the middle of stippling, but on the side of stippling, they are often on the top when writing horizontal paintings, and on the left when writing vertical paintings. It is easy to see the edges and corners at the beginning of the pen, but stippling often lacks three-dimensional sense, and because the pen is not in the direction of bristles, it is easy to have neat strokes on one side and irregular strokes on the other.
Change is one of the remarkable characteristics of Chinese characters and calligraphy. From the structure of Chinese characters, vertical and horizontal, simple, wide and narrow, long and short, oblique, each has its own state; From the point of pen use, Teton, line station, vertical collection, hidden dew, turning point and urgent exhibition are all used, thus making the Fiona Fang, thickness, pitch and straightness of stippling varied; From the structural point of view, density, opening and closing, gathering and dispersing, and stabilizing risks are all beautiful; Judging from the use of ink, there are dry, dark and light, and dry and wet set each other off; From the composition point of view, the size, reality, disconnection, uneven. It can be said that the process of calligraphy creation is the process of correctly handling this contradiction. In a good calligraphy work, these contradictions reach the unity of opposites.
Center and winger are also two methods of writing with unity of opposites. It is monotonous to use only the center or winger. The center is energetic, the winger is beautiful, the center is the main one, and the winger is the auxiliary one, so as to make the best use of everything. So there is really no need to make a pen heart, and it is impossible to make a pen heart. If you always haggle over whether the pen is in the center when writing, especially when writing fast running script or cursive script, it will definitely affect the disorder of writing, the patchwork of composition and the vividness of charm. Look at Huai Su's "Autobiographical Post", which is said to be the pen center. Isn't he also a winger? Therefore, Feng Fang of the Ming Dynasty said: "The ancients used the same pen to write seal, minute, truth, line and cursive script, and they must give priority to the front (that is, the center), and occasionally use the side to win their glory. Under the sub-book, the front is eight and the side is two, and the seal is absolutely unstoppable. "
Some people say that in order to keep the center pen, keep the brush body straight and the nib conical when writing. This statement is not accurate enough.
Mr. Ding's "On the Essence of Calligraphy" makes it more clear: "Straight and upright can't be swept away. In addition to ancient calligraphy in China, you can't always use the method of keeping your wrist straight. " "Bao said that this method is the most refined. He said,' When a mason engraves a picture, a right-handed person will turn left. Since the front is on the paper, it should be changed. Draw the walker's tube up, draw the walker's tube down, draw the left walker's tube to the right, indicating that the front is effective ... so the tube can't be straight and the wrist can't be flat. "
Calligraphers of all ages emphasized the role of wrist movement in a light and ethereal life. Yu Shinan said, "Lighten your wrist with a pen." Kang Youwei said: "If the left wrist is quite open, the potential will stop evenly, and the right wrist will benefit from the virtual life. In this way, all sides will be complete, the risk will be strong and deep, and the seal will be very good. " It is impossible to keep your wrist straight when it is light and empty, but how stiff will your wrist be if you keep it straight? According to my experience in Linchi, the pen body is straight, and the stippling I write may be biased. If the pen body is not straight, the center can also write. In the running process of the pen, the moment when the pen body is straight is short-lived, but it often falls up and down.
It is also impossible to keep the tip conical when writing. Strictly speaking, as soon as the pen touches the paper, the cone shape is destroyed. The more the pen is pressed, the thicker the stippling will be and the flatter the brush will be. At this point, the shape of the front end of the pen is neat rather than sharp; On the other hand, the more pens are raised, the thinner stippling will be, and the more brushes will gather, the closer to the cone, but it is impossible to keep the cone of the nib. To take a step back, even if the conical shape of the nib can really be maintained, as Wu Yu said in the Qing Dynasty, "It is true that the nib is straight down and the front is covered with ink, but I thought that the hidden front turned inward, just for fear."
