The water in the north of Anqing Old City originates from Changfeng Port. It is famous for its lotus and water chestnuts, and is also known as Linghu Lake. When the writer Yu Dafu was teaching at the Anhui Legal and Political College, he "especially loved the hills outside Xicheng and next to the diamond-shaped lake connected to the Yangtze River." Anhui College of Law and Political Science, formerly known as Jingfu Academy, was founded during the Guangxu period, and has attracted more and more people outside the north gate since then. Afterwards, private gardens such as Keyuan and Yiyuan were built in Linghu. But Linghu is outside the old city and is separated by the old city wall. This section of the city wall makes a big bend from Songyang Gate in the southeast to Jixian Gate in the northwest and is more than ten miles long. It is very inconvenient for city people to go out to Linghu.
A gate was built leading to the Linghu Scenic Area in the north of the city. Initially, the official designated this gate as "Linghu Gate", and later it was renamed "Jianshe Gate". Because the city gate faced east, it was also compared to Songyang Gate (East Gate). ) is small, so it is commonly known as Xiaodongmen. The street that leads eastward from Xilin Street to Xiaodongmen is Jianshemen Street.
The current Jianshemen Street ends at Zibaoshan’an Street in the east. Ahead is the wall of the old Water Conservancy Bureau. During the Cultural Revolution, Jianshemen Street was once called Dongsan Lane of Hongwei Street. In 1978, it was restored to its original name. The length of Jianshemen Street was only over 100 meters. The location of the Yingjiang District Court in the north of the street used to be. Dongmen Datang. The water in Dongmen Datang was extremely clear in the past, and the sound of hammer washing could be heard every morning and evening. Dongmen Datang is located in the north of Shijiatang, with Tiefo Temple in the west and Song Gong Temple in the northeast. , there is a small foreign-style building built in the east of Datang in the east gate, known as "Lilou". It is the residence of Jiao Shan (Shi Xian), director of the Anhui Provincial Army Land Survey Bureau. Jiao Shan participated in the Japanese Army and the Alliance in the early days, and won a prize during the Northern Expedition. After the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the writer Zhang Henshui returned to Anqing and lived in this small building for a short time.
