Cicada is a poem about objects, which is full of symbolism. One or two sentences use the cicada's perch to drink dew and the cicada's sound to spread far and wide as a metaphor for people's clearness, beauty and elegance; The third and fourth sentences use the word "self" and "non" respectively, which are positive and negative, full of tension, expressing enthusiastic praise and high confidence in people's inner character.
The sentence describes the shape, habits and sounds of cicadas, while the sentence implies the poet's noble and pure character and interest, and the deep meaning of chanting things is to praise people. The key of the poem is to grasp some specific features of cicada, and find the artistic correspondence from them. The whole poem is concise and vivid, with clever metaphor, and it is thought-provoking with Qiu Chan's noble and proud character.
