Chu Suiliang (596-658) was a minister and calligrapher in the early Tang Dynasty. Originally from Yangzhai, Henan (now Yuxian, Henan), he moved south to Qiantang, Hangzhou (now west of Hangzhou, Zhejiang) in the late Jin Dynasty. He is proficient in literature and history and is good at calligraphy. He was recommended by Wei Zhi as a good book to Emperor Taizong and was appreciated. He later served as a doctor's consultant. He advised Taizong to suspend meditation and put forward many positive suggestions on state affairs. In the 17th year of Zhenguan (643), Prince Chenggan was abolished for murdering Wang Wei Taiwan, so Sui Liang and Sun Chang Wuji persuaded Taizong to appoint his ninth son, King Li Zhi of Jin, as Prince (that is, Tang Gaozong).
