Jiajing was the eunuch of Li Si prison, and in the first year of Qin Long (1567), he served as the prefect and royal horse supervisor of East Factory. In the sixth year of Wanli (1578), Feng Bao wrote an inscription on the Riverside Scene at Qingming Festival, claiming to be "an imperial official from the Governor's East Factory, in charge of the eunuch in the imperial palace", who was in charge of both internal and external affairs and was in power for a while.
Feng has a high cultural accomplishment. During his tenure as the supervisor of Li Si, he carved many books, such as Wu Ji, Si Shu, Shu Jing, Tong Jian Zhi Jie, Emperor Jian Tu Shuo and Shu Jing Yin Shi, which were still circulated in the palace until Chongzhen. His calligraphy is quite good, he is good at playing the piano and has made many pianos, which is "loved by the world" (Volume 5).
In May of the 4th year of Wanli (1576), Feng Bao, together with the Third Ministry of Justice, conducted a nationwide "hot trial", which rehabilitated many unjust prisons (ibid.).
In the 11th year of Wanli (1583), Feng Bao died in Nanjing. Feng Bao's younger brother Feng You and nephew Feng Bangning died in prison after being removed from their posts.
Zhang, his political ally, commented on him: "He is diligent, and Su Zu has long known it. (Sejong) often listens to it as Da Zhuan and is not famous." ("The Longevity of Li Jian Eunuch Feng")
