In the twenty-sixth year of Qianlong's reign (1761), the ministers who read the papers secretly discussed and circled four of the eight items as the title. There is no limit to the length of the policy text, usually about 2,000 words. There are certain formats and word limits for the beginning, ending and middle writing. The imperial examination papers, the number one scholar was awarded to the Hanlin Academy editor. If the second- and third-grade Jinshi want to be conferred and become officials, they have to pass the imperial examination again in Baohe Hall. Based on the scores of the previous and later examinations, the best ones will be selected to enter the Hanlin Academy as Shujishi. It is commonly known as "Dian Hanlin", and the rest are distributed to various ministries as directors or to serve in other places.
