Mr. Sun Taichu is not only diligent in seal cutting, but also has works all over the world. Modest and indifferent, he has taught China's calligraphy and seal cutting in Yunnan Art College and Yunnan Normal University. For decades, more than 1000 people have studied under Mr. Sun. Lang Sen, Sun Yuan, Guo Wei and others who have made great achievements in domestic calligraphy and painting circles are all outstanding students trained by Mr. Sun Taichu.
Mr. Sun Taichu is also engaged in archaeological work for a long time. At the beginning of 1952, Sun Taichu, as the only recommended student in Yunnan Province, was sent to the first national archaeological training course jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, China Academy of Sciences and Peking University, and received systematic archaeological theory study in five months, becoming the first generation of archaeologists trained in New China. Since then, it has been the ancient Dian culture in Hongzhen, which has been traced back for decades. Sun Taichu presided over the excavation work of Zhaotong Han Tomb and Jinning Shizhai Mountain Yunnan King Tomb, and achieved amazing results. The excavation of "Yunnan Golden Seal" unveiled the mystery of the history of Yunnan Kingdom more than 2,000 years ago, and confirmed the historical record of the opening up of southwest yi by Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty, which was appreciated by scholars such as Guo Moruo and Zheng Zhenduo. Sun Taichu knew that "once you climb, you still need to struggle". For decades, Lan Lulu visited historical sites and was diligent in exploration, and wrote and published academic works such as Congkao on Ancient Stone Carvings in Yunnan, Dream of Duck Pond, Postscript on Stone Carvings in Meng Yulou, Examination on Copper Washing in Bamboo Ladder Pond and Calligraphy Seal Cutting. Later, together with the national archaeologist Ningsheng Wang, he became two directors of the first Council of China Archaeological Society.
After retirement, Mr. Sun Taichu did not stop working and exploring in Yunnan National Cultural Park. As a librarian of the Provincial Museum of Literature and History, he has made great achievements in the fields of epigraphy, calligraphy and painting, and archaeological research of cultural relics. As a member of CPPCC for four consecutive years, he actively participated in the discussion of state affairs and devoted himself to the heart of a patriotic intellectual. As a well-known calligraphy artist, his paintings and calligraphy works have been exhibited at home and abroad for many times, which won favorable comments and was awarded as a member of China Calligraphers Association.
Mr. Sun Taichu died in Kunming at 9: 20 am on April 25th, 20 12, at the age of 88.
