The ministers of Tongming Palace stood with their necks stretched out like swans. At this moment, they were holding the Emperor of Heaven in front of a cluster of red clouds. He arrived in Beijing in September, and later moved to Duanming Palace to serve as a bachelor and Hanlin scholar, and as a minister of the Ministry of Rites. The moon is called "light" and the star is called "sparse", which have two meanings. The first is to realistically describe the unique scenes on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month. The fifteenth month is full, and the stars are naturally dim and sparse. It is impossible for the sky to be full of stars. It was late winter and early spring, and the moonlight was cold, not like the bright moon in the sky on August 15th, filled with clear light. Therefore, it implies the seasons; secondly, the moon, stars and Jianzhang (palace) should form a complete set of images. The poet uses the word "around" to point out the relationship between the Ming Palace as the main subject and the stars and the moon as the guests, which sets the fairy-like tone for the whole poem. At the same time, the relationship between the palace and the stars and the moon is also used to imply the relationship between the monarch and his ministers, thus paving the way for the actual writing of the last two sentences of the poem.
The second sentence, "The fairy wind blows down the incense from the royal stove" follows the previous sentence, making the atmosphere created by the previous sentence a fairyland. The three sentences "The courtiers stand in the Tongming Hall" echo the title of the poem "Waiting for a banquet". The ministers who attended the banquet were like doves, standing in awe, the palace was full of glory, and the atmosphere was solemn and peaceful. At this time, the ministers stood quietly waiting for the emperor's arrival, but the poet was already in a fairyland, full of imagination. "Hu" refers to a swan in one theory and a crane in another theory. This should be understood as crane. Because not only are Heli and Huli synonymous, but more importantly, Shi Chenghe has enhanced the atmosphere of the fairy world. Cranes were regarded as fairy birds by the ancients and were called fairy cranes. They believed that they were mounts of gods. In the poet's eyes, the ministers stood upright like cranes, waiting for their master to ride. "Tongming Palace" superficially refers to the brightly lit and splendid palace where banquets are held, but in fact it is a pun on the palace of the Jade Emperor. "When God ascends to the Golden Palace, the light of the palace shines on the emperor's body, and the light of the body shines on the golden palace. It is bright and transparent, so it is called the Tongming Palace." The first sentence is originally a realistic description of the scene seen, but it uses words such as "sparse", "light", and "around" that are not specific in image, thus creating an illusory and ethereal realm. The last sentence describes the poet's hallucinatory association with the emperor's appearance.
