Chen Jinhu's "Xingyi Shu"

Chen Jinhu talked about the "characteristics" of the pictographic art he invented. In the preface of a book "Xingyi Calligraphy-Chen Jinhu Modern Calligraphy Collection", he commented on this book: "In my work, perhaps its form is somewhat alienated, and it is difficult to find a comparison and answer in the existing things and experiences. Maybe it has some painting elements, giving you an image and abstract association, and maybe its value lies in it. But, after all, it is China's calligraphy-with words and content, a little painting and structure, style and organization. It can be said that it has all the life codes of China's calligraphy. The difference is that it puts different styles of aesthetic values in the same work, which strengthens the diversity of vitality composition and the extensiveness of emotional experience in calligraphy lines. At the same time, it also strengthens the purity, layering and formal texture of color. " Chen Jinhu's pictographic works have been exhibited in Germany, Japan, Italy and other countries. Chen Jinhu's artistic style of pictographic characters was warmly affirmed by friends and audiences in Japanese painting and calligraphy circles at the "Japan-China Modern Art Friendly Exchange Exhibition" held in Japan from May 65438 to June 26 this year. Japanese friends say that this form of painting and calligraphy has never been seen in Japan. Japanese people have "single character" calligraphy, which has a great visual impact. However, Chen Jinhu's "Xingyi characters have both poetic artistic conception and strong visual effect", which is very special. Shibuya Chunshou, vice president of the Japan-China Painting and Calligraphy Exchange Conference, commented that Mr. Chen's works are "very unique and really avant-garde. Only such avant-garde works can be called "classics" in the future.

When a reporter asked, "When did you start to create this new style of calligraphy?" At that time, Chen Jinhu said, "I started to explore very early, and started to think about it from 1990. That is, how calligraphy art is "understood" by people outside the mainland and how to go abroad? This is also a question that I have been thinking about for a long time. So I studied the western painting theory so that my friends could understand it and' express' it. I groped for a long time, and in 2000, I groped for ten years, and I was in pain, even' despair'. Because I can't find a most' appropriate' thing to' express'. Later, it was a' dream' that fulfilled me. When I was dreaming, I found a work, a cursive word, suddenly' falling' from the wall and' fluttering' in the air. One minute it's big, the other minute it's small. Obviously, this is a cursive script. How did it become a cursive script? I found it when I was sleepwalking. It's so touching. I was particularly impressed when I woke up from my dream. At this time, I will freeze this feeling on a piece of paper. There are also large and small' combinations' together. I don't know what this work is. But this word is different, it is not a sentence. But this sense of form is already very touching. Later, it was sorted out and integrated from traditional calligraphy, and it was found that other forms could be "scattered" as long as the most "refined" part of all kinds of calligraphy was retained. So I think there are two points in traditional calligraphy that can't be' abandoned': first, words and content, without which it is not called calligraphy. Second, style and lines can't be abandoned. After the lines and words persist, everything can be scattered. Seal didn't exist before, but it did exist and developed, so why can't I develop it now? Composition, the original fixed composition, there was no composition before, but later there was composition and a fixed pattern. Why can't we break up now? Modern people live in different environments, so I broke up its' rules'. Then the lines of the book are good and the words are good. Why can't I "zoom in" a little more? Because this line is really' too subtle',' too subtle' means that no one can calm down and' look carefully'. But if magnified, it will be "clear at a glance" and "easy to read", so it has visual impact, so it is more easily accepted by modern people. So I reformed it from the aspects of composition, form and content. As soon as the results came out, everyone felt "very powerful" Two of my works, Fantasy at Shanghai Art Fair, were bought by Philips' boss in Shanghai. For 78 years, this' foreigner' has been coming here to' see works'. "

As foreigners and overseas Chinese like this kind of "artistic works" more and more, Chen Jinhu is also "considering" giving this artistic style a name. At first, Chen Jinhu was named after "Xingyi Zi". With his constant exploration and research on this artistic style theory, Chen Jinhu told reporters that "the word" form and meaning "is just four words. Because of the "law", it seems to be "fixed" again. After two years of repeated consideration, he believes that this artistic style should be said to be' the return of art'. Return to hieroglyphics and understanding words, and return to the source of writing creation. Let people who don't understand' feel' the picture, which is a kind of' return'. Later, I also found that hieroglyphics are mainly pictographic and knowing, which is the main thing. So today I call this artistic style "Pictograph".

Xingyishu is an original work created by Chen Jinhu, a mainland calligrapher, after nearly 20 years of hard work, so there are many overseas friends who come to Ding Jie Gallery to see Xingyishu. Although the local industry may still have some reservations about this innovative calligraphy artist's "works", more friends in the industry have begun to "accept". Many colleagues even said that the development of calligraphy art in China needs to be inherited, and to inherit the excellent traditional art of the Chinese nation, it is necessary to "re-innovate" the art, thus injecting new vitality into the traditional calligraphy art in China.

After leaving the art exhibition in Chen Jinhu, the reporter is also thinking about such a question: As the source of traditional calligraphy, Xingyishu created by Chen Jinhu has been praised by overseas friends, but whether it can be "accepted" by China calligraphy lovers may take a "process". But in any case, each of our viewers must "see it with their own eyes" and never "criticize it out of thin air" before making comments. Because the new "Xingyishu" belongs not only to Chen Jinhu, but also to our nation as the new "bud" of China calligraphy art.
