On Chen Jia's Calligraphy Quality

Magnificent and Healthy —— Chen Jia's Calligraphy

I know Chen Jia because of the introduction of a calligrapher. After sitting together and chatting, I realized that there are similarities and differences in calligraphy between us, as well as our hometown.

Chen Jia was born in Yilong, northern Sichuan, a place of outstanding people. Marshal Zhu De was born in Ma 'an ancient town in Yilong. Yilong has a strong style of writing, especially the "three villages culture" with paper-cutting, seal cutting and calligraphy as the main body, which has been named "the hometown of Chinese folk art" by the state. Influenced by the style of writing in his hometown, Chen Jia fell in love with calligraphy from an early age. Under the guidance of his teacher, he embarked on the road of learning famous inscriptions. There are two things in his personality that contributed to his success, one is diligence, and the other is perseverance. He has been determined to study hard for more than 20 years. It is not easy to be hot and cold. He gradually formed his own style in the swimming pool day after day, from swimming pool to creation. Now he is almost 30 years old. He is still young for his age. In calligraphy, he is probably old at the bottom of the pen.

Chen Jia brought me a photo of his calligraphy works for my appreciation. The photo is a huge calligraphy work with the words "the soul of the party" written on it. According to him, this work has been hanging in the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing recently. From the aesthetic point of view of calligraphy art, it is magnificent and beautiful.

Boldness, like strength, belongs to masculine beauty. Magnificent beauty has the power of shock and the momentum of stretching and changing. The aesthetician Si Kongtu regarded "vigor" as the first product of poetry, and he said: "Great use is made for the outside, and the substance is full. Return to the air and go deep, and be a hero. Have everything, travel through space. Wild oil clouds, less Changfeng. Besides the image, you got the ring. It is powerful and endless. " There is a "true body" in it-the spirit "returns to emptiness and deepens, and strengthens the body to become a hero", just like the wind blowing across the sky. "Perseverance is endless", how magnificent!

Magnificence is manifested in three levels: quantity, strength and spirit. Chen Jiayou has many great works, such as Fu, Shou, Xiong Feng and so on. He is very heavy, using three-point pen, taking the work as the center, and spreading his power with words. The force here is in the word, it is clever force, not brute force. A weightlifter has little strength, but calligraphy is not good. When he writes a book, it will not have the effect of "penetrating the back of the paper". Chen Jia's power to write a great book is not only the cloud in Feng Fang's Formula of Words, but also the fact that "the pen is full of strength, and the book will sink". Another example is Kang Youwei's saying: "Hold it tightly, hang your wrist, and practice your whole body between your wrists and fingers, and your pen can sink." The word "Fu" in his masterpiece gives people a strong sense of strength. The left half of the pen is a unique bronze column, and the right half is strong and powerful. The word "Xiong Feng" is strong and powerful, like a general with a horizontal knife, and stands proudly with the bravery of "uniting with one heart with his bare hands". It seems that once this glory is launched, it will be invincible, and it will sweep away danger and decay.

In the Tang Dynasty, Zhang Yanyuan's "Fa Shu" was quoted from Mrs. Dong Jinwei's drawings, saying: "A skinny and fleshy person is called Jin Shu; The fleshy and skinny one is called the ink pig. " If you can't see the bones and muscles, you will often flow to the "ink pig" with fleshy bones.

Chen Jia should strive to be "thin and hard" at the same time. Du Fu said that "books are expensive but hard, and the spirit can be solved". In the early Tang Dynasty, the book style advocated thin and hard, such as Ou Yangxun's book, which Zhao Mengfu called "clean and healthy"

In fact, both fat and hard can connect the soul. Both Yan and Liu should learn calligraphy. His calligraphy is vigorous and powerful.

Looking at Chen Jia's calligraphy, I feel calm and happy. "Calm and happy" refers to the brushwork, calm, and refers to the leisurely pen. The ancients attached great importance to writing with a pen, and Yan Zhenqing's understanding of "painting sand with a cone" and "leaking marks" has always been highly praised by calligraphers. There is a sentence in Ma Zonghuo's "The Story of the Forest Algae": "Lu Gong's" The Tombstone of Shu Duji "is calm and heavy." Being happy means being frank but not slick. To be frank but not slick, you must be fluent and radiant. There is a passage in Liu Xizai that is very calm in Li Yong's calligraphy: "Every painting is like throwing a brick on the ground." Bricks are heavy, and there are sounds and traces when they hit the ground. Chen Jia has a book called "Mountains and Rivers Contain Clear Brightness", which is deep, steady and vigorous and has the effect of being engraved on paper. It seems that the radiance has gone deep into the mountains and rivers, and the radiance that was originally scattered outside has now gone deep into the mountains and rivers and merged into one.

As far as the structure is concerned, his words are symmetrical, balanced and wonderful, and the stippling echoes but is contradictory and harmonious. When talking about the beauty of structure, Sun advocated that "violating harmony is not a crime, but harmony is different". "Violating" refers to reform, and "committing" refers to transgression. "Harmony" refers to coordination and "difference" refers to change. Chen Jia embodied this philosophical law of unity of opposites when summing up this sentence. He wrote a pair of couplets I wrote for the Xixi Bridge in Wangcang: "Whoever plays the morning song, the wild birds open the picture several times;" The firewood sings the sunset creek, and the flying rainbow crosses the mountain songs together. "The application of violation and dependence has better handled the relationship between up and down, left and right, opening and closing, and jagged.

Master Hongyi, who is proficient in calligraphy, has unique views on the composition of calligraphy. He said that the quality of a calligraphy should be "50 points for composition, 35 points for character, 5 points for ink color and 10 for seal." From Chen Jia's recent seven-character poem Yang Gongdi Sleeping in the West Lake, we can see his layout.

There are four lines in this poem: "Spring night is like this night, and the partition is free and unfettered. Who is drunk in the West Lake tonight? Blow Wu Xiao and Chu Xiao. " To arrange the composition of a book, we must first make a layout, carry out the overall design, and then choose the font according to the main idea of the text. On the spring night, the sound of the flute in the West Lake is mellow and soft, which reminds people of Du Mu's poem "Twenty-four Bridges on a moonlit night, where can jade people teach flute playing?" Twenty-four beauties played flutes on the bridge on a moonlit night, bringing people into a melodious, beautiful and refreshing picture. To write such a poem, it is best to use running script or flowing cursive script, which is neither exciting nor forceful. Chen Jia wrote this poem in cursive script, which is full of a dynamic beauty of "simplicity and movement". With the rhythm of the calligrapher's light and heavy, the viewer entered a leisurely mood.

The first word of a calligraphy work plays a leading role in the whole article. The first word is pioneer, leading goose and tuning hammer. When writing prose, we should first write the body and mind of the first word in an appropriate way. The first word of this poem is "He", and the charm of the word "He" in cursive script is highly praised by calligraphers such as Wang Xizhi, Mi Fei, Zhao Ziang, Wang Duo, Zhang Ruitu and Jing Shijiang. The first word "harmony" in this poem was written by Jing Shijiang, a famous Sichuan writer, and it became a masterpiece of "grass flowing smoothly". Reading this poem, we seem to be stepping on the flute on the lake, easily walking across the small bridge in Yang Gongdi of the West Lake, and strolling on the fragrant path brought by the tender willows of spring flowers. This kind of joy is brought to us by poetry and calligraphers!

Zhang Yanyuan has the saying that "ink is transported in five colors". Five colors refer to coke, thick, heavy, light and clear, and water is used to adjust the multi-level shade of ink. Chen Jia often writes books in thick ink, which should be good for him to write more cursive scripts. Cursive script needs to be bold and unrestrained, and running script needs smooth strokes. Strong colors are easy to cause the pen's meaning to be stuck, and heavy ink between strong ink and light ink is most suitable for his writing.

Calligraphy emphasizes the beauty of artistic conception, which is embodied in the beauty of nature, and the beauty of interest and nature is closely related to daily life; Second, it is reflected in the expression of emotional beauty, which is the external expression of calligrapher's inner spirit. The "party soul" in his book is vigorous and powerful, which not only expresses his firm belief in productism, but also expresses his determination to strengthen the country and enrich the people. "Loyal ministers", clanking with iron bones, expressed their loyalty to the country. The word "pure heart" also reminds people of Wen Tianxiang's immortal and heroic song "Who has never died since ancient times, keep your heart and shine on history", which has inspired many people with lofty ideals to join the just cause. As a warm-blooded young man, Chen Jia's ambition in "Loyalty and Righteousness" lies in "serving the country faithfully until death do us part"
