As we all know, none of Wang Xizhi's existing calligraphy is authentic. Li Zhanhua explained to reporters: "A thousand years of paper, 800 years of silk. Calligraphy and painting painted on paper and silk have a certain life cycle. Only by copying them can those classic calligraphy and painting arts be passed down. " Palace artists in the Tang Dynasty copied Wang Xizhi's famous calligraphy works according to the imperial edict, or prepared them in the palace or rewarded them to senior officials, which was then used for aesthetics. But Wang Xizhi's excellent calligraphy style was handed down at that time.
Generally speaking, there are two forms of calligraphy and painting simulation, one is the imitation of contemporaries, and the other is the imitation of generations. In the imitation of contemporaries, several students of a teacher may copy the teacher's calligraphy and painting together, and the good ones will be handed down. It may also be that students imitate it realistically, and then the famous teacher signs it, which will become an example for the next generation to learn. Famous painters such as Lu, Dong Qichang, Wu Changshuo and so on all have such simulated calligraphy and painting. And the learning and imitation from generation to generation is basically to choose the best among the best and imitate. From this perspective, the simulation process of celebrity calligraphy and painting itself includes a screening process.
Therefore, for such a simulated phenomenon, Li Zhanhua said: "There is no need to make a fuss. We should respect this phenomenon and not cut off the inheritance of calligraphy and painting."
