Let me start with a logic. Which do you think is more important in modern China and Japan, population, property, territory, financial resources, national strength, national identity or national unity? There is no doubt that China has a clear advantage. Is it logical that the Japanese did what China didn't do?
You will say, that's what history says. What if history lies to you? If you watch The Last Samurai, you will be infected by the so-called Bushido spirit and be deeply impressed by the image of Japanese samurai in the Southwest Campaign. But that's a lie. In fact, The Last Samurai tells you horizontally that the Japanese emperor had no power even during the Meiji Restoration. At the end of the film, Emperor Meiji's tough attitude may have happened, but the actual situation is that the Emperor was finally killed. Of course, politically, he would not say that he was killed, but that he died of illness, fell to his death, choked while eating, drowned in the toilet, died of jealousy with his wife, and died carelessly by the doctor. The purpose is to cover up the truth.
In fact, the Meiji Restoration marked that Japan was completely controlled by Europe and America. However, this control is not reflected in the direct dispatch of foreign governors to manage, or the king of England directly becomes the emperor of India like India, but chooses agents from the Japanese to govern the country. In the following days, the Japanese suddenly defeated China, whose population, financial resources and military strength were much larger than his, and knocked Russia down. This kind of thing is possible. It is really a ghost. Many people say it is the embodiment of Japanese Bushido. That's a ghost. In the Southwest War, the Japanese samurai were wiped out long ago, and everyone died. Where is the spirit of Bushido? Later, the so-called bushido spirit was a kind of indiscriminate killing fabricated by people and instilled in the Japanese, including the so-called bushido spirit of Japanese devils in World War II, but it was not really bushido. In fact, careful observation shows that the Japanese defeated China and Russia in two wars, and the European and American powers chose to support Japan in order to foster Japan and balance China and Russia that have not been controlled by European and American capitalist interest groups.
The Meiji Restoration was a complete failure, marked by the demise of national sovereignty. To put it bluntly, it is national subjugation. But after the national subjugation, the whole country belongs to others, and people are naturally willing to develop you. It's like Shanghai and Hongkong in old China, which became concessions in Europe and America, but developed. However, if we look closely, these developed colonies are actually just bridgeheads that absorb mainland wealth. In order to absorb Chinese mainland's wealth, imperialism helped China warlords to fight in Chinese mainland, which led to Chinese mainland's massive capital fleeing to the Concession, then shorting the real estate in the Concession and taking away Chinese mainland's wealth.
The Reform Movement of 1898 was a movement that China people intended to reform the system and make the country rich and strong. However, this sport has always been congenitally deficient. First, after the Sino-Japanese War, China was heavily in debt. This made the Reform Movement of 1898 have no sufficient material basis from the beginning. Compared with the Westernization Movement with a solid material foundation, the Reform Movement of 1898 was more congenitally deficient. However, people in China were superstitious at that time. As long as we change the system, especially the western democratic system, all problems will be solved. It's not that simple. In the early days of the Republic of China, the western democratic system was used. Why hasn't the country become stronger?
I don't care what history books you read. I want to tell you some historical facts. What I said is absolutely true in history. First of all, Yuan Shikai's whistle-blowing was not the direct cause of the coup of Empress Dowager Cixi. Empress Dowager Cixi decided to launch a coup only after receiving Yang Chongyi's last performance. What did Yang Chongyi do to make Empress Dowager Cixi want a coup? There is no sufficient reason to explain it clearly. Actually, just look at what Yang Chongyi wrote. Yang Chongyi said in the memorial that the reformists are prepared to discuss the issue of "harmonious country" with the upcoming former Japanese Prime Minister Ito Bowen. The so-called union means handing over national sovereignty to the Japanese, similar to the "Article 21" signed by Yuan Shikai.
The question is, did the reformists do this? Unfortunately, they did. Kang Youwei instructed Yang Shenxiu to remember the throne, which was a "peaceful state". Zhonghua Book Company published a book about sorting out the data of the 1898 Movement, including the Memorial of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom. However, you don't have to look for this book. Look up "Yang Shenxiu" on Wikipedia. The whole world knows this, but China people don't know it.
Second, Emperor Guangxu has never seen Kang Youwei. In fact, Emperor Guangxu valued Yuan Shikai more. In the novel, Kang Youwei was received by Emperor Guangxu in film and television dramas, and even debated with Manchu ministers in court. In fact, this has never happened. There is a simple reason. Kang Youwei is too young to be received by the emperor.
Reform is good. Without reform, it is difficult for the country to be strong. But the reform can only be formulated according to the national conditions, and its goal is to bring real development to this country. We must never presuppose the so-called bourgeois democratic system from the beginning. It is said that this system will make the country fly like a chicken for a long time, which will bring prosperity. Can you believe it? In my opinion, this system will never save China. From the Reform Movement of 1898 to Sun Yat-sen's Northern Expedition, history has given this road for nearly 30 years, but it has brought civil war, foreign war and massacre. In this reform, the only remaining achievements of the Westernization Movement were swept away. After the founding of New China, the first warship launched only drained 13 tons. Who would have thought that as early as the Westernization Movement, China people built the cruiser "Pingyuan" with a displacement of 2100t (the performance of this ship is equivalent to that of the German-bought "Jiyuan").
Kang Youwei is a liar.

After reading several articles about Kang Youwei recently, I have a feeling that almost all researchers say that his quality is poor. After reading it, I also realized that this famous figure is not decent, almost a liar. Perhaps under the great revolutionary trend, there will always be some such people who have some knowledge, some courage, some talent and some ability, but they are selfish, and their selfish desires are so strong that they can't be satisfied, so they further tell lies and fabricate false history. One day, the truth will gradually surface and make future generations hate it. Kang Youwei is like this now. Under the detailed textual research of many historians, he exposed the clues under Kirin. His Chronicle of Kang Nanhai Customs is both true and false. Therefore, Mao Haijian, an expert on the Reform Movement of 1898, said: "Kang Youwei's remarks are exaggerated and self-proclaimed, so we should be careful everywhere." . It is really embarrassing that a person's "self-defined chronology" makes later scholars look at it this way. What Mao said means that Kang said that Emperor Guangxu had instructed the Prime Minister's yamen: "Kang Youwei has a discount and can send it directly." Mao said that this was "impossible" within the system at that time. This sage Kang has done this all his life. In Ming Jiang's book Silent Chess, there is a special article that reveals that Kang Youwei's so-called "writing on the bus" is also an imaginary thing. "Writing on the bus" originally meant that after the defeat of the Sino-Japanese War (1894), the Qing court ceded land for compensation, and those who went to Beijing to take the exam the following year wrote to the emperor to object. At one time, many people wrote this book, batch after batch. Kang said that he organized a group of juren to write a book, and he wrote it and played it on the emperor. However, I can't tell where to meet and where to play. There is no evidence for this, only Kang Youwei said it over and over again. Ming Jiang said, "The fact is that Wan Yan Shu by Kang Youwei has never been handed in." "At most, it can only be called a bus meeting or bus writing. Ming Jiang concluded that this was "Kang Youwei's great deception of history". "This may be the beginning of deception, but also the beginning of Kang Youwei's career.
There is also a big lie, the so-called "imperial edict", that is, when Emperor Guangxu thought he was in crisis, there was a top-secret imperial edict that Kang Youwei took out and discussed with the important figures of the political reform, such as Yang Rui and Tan Sitong. Ming Jiang's textual research shows that there is no such thing. There is a so-called "imperial edict", but it was written to Yang Rui when he met Yang Rui, with the words "Erqi and Xu Lin, Liu Guangdi, Tan Sitong and other comrades to raise business as soon as possible", and that "two" refers to Yang Rui. Later, Kang Youwei said to himself, "Put on clothes.". He thought all the people mentioned in the imperial edict were dead. But unexpectedly, after Yang Rui was killed, his son Yang Qingyun sewed it into the collar of Huang Shangyi, a Sichuan juren, brought it back to his hometown, and later took it out. The emperor's calligraphy is irrefutable and cannot be forged. As a result, the matter of "Zhao" came to light. However, Kang Youwei fled overseas, cheated the world with "imperial edict", stole his name and made a lot of money by stealing his name.
The most detailed and interesting thing I saw about Kang Youwei was what Levin, a scholar from Taiwan Province Province, said in the book "The Imperial History of the Two Dynasties". At that time, Kang Youwei's position was very low, he was not familiar with court affairs and didn't understand court rules, so he often "talked nonsense" in his own chronicle, which made people laugh. Ru Kang said, "The emperor is a little concerned about rewarding the princes and ministers who support him. The queen mother also dissected it to see if there is a secret imperial edict. "Levin said: Kang Youwei didn't even know that Weng Tonghe could see the emperor every day. If there is a secret letter, he can talk to the other party. Why grab his heart? If you want to put snacks, isn't it a lot of trouble to cheat in the kitchen? This is ridiculous.
But Kang Youwei is the person who initiated the political reform and should make his own contribution. That's not bad either. However, this contribution has been exaggerated. Xinhua Digest (2009? 18) reprinted Jiang's "On Kang Youwei's Guiding Ideology and the Reform Movement of 1898", arguing that Kang Youwei's influence at that time was extremely limited in both reformists and conservatives. "His academic position, reputation and accomplishment are not qualified for the position of academic leader." "So far, we have not found anyone who appreciates Kang Youwei's academic views on' New Learning and Pseudo-Classics Examination' and' Confucius Reform Examination'." At that time, even now, many people opposed him and despised him. But as far as my humble opinion is concerned, when people talk about the history of China's calligraphy, they mostly affirm Kang Youwei's book "Two Boats of Guangyi", and many people praise it. This is totally undeniable.
It seems that it is time for this reformer who has won a high reputation for tampering with history to reposition himself. (Excerpted from Hong Evening News Author:)
