Recently, I had to read Mi Fei's "Nothing on the Grass" on a calligraphy website, signed by Mr. jlhnz. Why? In a short article, the article said: "As for the reason why Mi Fei can't write cursive script well, there is an explanation after the textual research of Zhang Diantie's Complete Works of Mi Fei:' The style of keeping the Tang Dynasty alone' and' the style of meaning' have been' abolished', but even those who keep the Jin Dynasty are' suppressed by the times and can't be lofty'. What about calligraphers? With Tang, the atmosphere changed. If it is moved from time to time, Zhang Dian may be forgotten before the Song Dynasty. Bird didn't do anything on the grass. How could he?
The concept of cursive script has always been common. Liu Xizai said,' Well, it's also a grass solid.' Since modern times, some people have distinguished cursive script from cursive script. For example, Zhang Zongxiang questioned cursive script "How can it be smelted in one furnace?" . Mi Fei's running script has been shaking for a long time, but the cursive script can't be done, which can also prove that the writing norms of running script and cursive script are different.
In "Famous Sentences of Haiyue", it is praised that the writing brush for seal script is "flexible, round and full of its own features", which is probably an aesthetic ideal of Mi Fei. Things are biased. Mi Fei's running script is full of surprises, but the cursive script is not well written. Does this mean that "everyone has his own feet" helps him on the one hand and restricts him on the other? "
To this, I immediately replied: "Mi Fei didn't write cursive script to write good and unique words. He can't write cursive script, which makes him famous in history. "
Later, Mr. jlhnz replied: "It's not that Mi Fei didn't want to write cursive, but that he couldn't write well and had to give up." I replied again: "It's not a' last resort' that I can't write cursive, but I learned it well. Running script is a hero in the book world. Writing cursive script can make a family, and writing cursive script can also make a family. To put it bluntly, Zheng, Cao, Li and Yan Dou are systems, and there is no distinction between nobility and inferiority. "
The reason why I brought this topic up is not only because Mr. jlhnz has this view, but because under the influence of the customary rule of using cursive script to measure the quality of calligraphy art, people's aesthetic vision has been greatly restricted and influenced, which has led to the strange phenomenon of a swarm of bees waving cursive script at will, which is completely out of control.
I don't know when I got into the habit of using cursive script to measure the historical status of calligraphers. This is of course because I don't know when anyone said "cursive script is the highest form of calligraphy". If you don't write cursive or write badly, you will become a performer who is not the highest art form of calligraphy. Ironically, this "ruler" is used to measure not only modern people, but also ancient people. And the comments are really serious and logical, so the person who holds this "rule" is the most knowledgeable person in calligraphy.
I have a supplement to the statement that cursive script is the highest expression of calligraphy art, that is, it seems reasonable to add a word "one" at the end of the sentence. However, in a strict sense, this sentence is unscientific. The so-called "highest form of expression" may not only refer to which kind of writing (such as Zheng, Cao, Li, Zhuan, Xing). ), accurately speaking, it should be the calligrapher's expression (means) and his height of being good at calligraphy writing. If we insist that "the highest form of expression" refers to a certain style of writing and measures other ancient people like Mi Fei, then Wang Xizhi's name of "Book Sage" should give way to Zhang Xu and Huai Su. Not only that, but "people who have achieved nothing on the grass" such as,, Yan, Liu and Ou will naturally be classified as "the second highest" or "not high", so I don't know how to explain it. "Times are pressing it, but it can't be lofty." Can it be said that after the Qin and Han dynasties, various factions "made no achievements in seal cutting and official positions, so there is nothing else"? Furthermore, the Song people's good at ci poetry is also "irresistible."
"There is nothing in the poem. How can there be him?" ! Still the same cloud: "Song didn't want to write a poem, but he couldn't write it well, so he had to give it up"? Although the words of the Song people are "shocking through the ages"
"What is the home of Zenai Ci?" But in the history of China literature, it is a pity that poetry "can't achieve great things" or Japanese words are not the highest expression? In other words, the right and wrong of calligraphy, cursive script, official script, seal script and running script are just like poems, words, songs and fu in literature. There is no distinction between high and low in itself. The decisive factor of the final form of expression is people, and it is the means of expression that determines its competition.
The negative influence of the statement that cursive script is the highest form of calligraphy art is obvious to all. The morbid mode of calligraphy fever in the 1980s made it so difficult to "return to tradition", which made people think deeply. One-sided and stubborn adherence to "cursive script is the highest form of calligraphy art" is the key to the phenomenon that there is neither cursive script worth pondering nor regular script, seal script and official script hanging on the wall. Since Huang Dynasty, seal script has almost become a masterpiece. Up to now, no one can compare with Shen Yimo and Bai Jiao. When the cursive script arrived in Lin Sanzhi, it was over. However, in the official script, Deng and his disciples and grandchildren never seem to appear again. This is very deserted, not to mention regular script. Can only blame Yan, Liu and ou for buying out the patent of regular script. Even so, we can still have reason to "laugh" at them. Although their regular script is amazing through the ages, it can achieve nothing in the grass, and their helplessness and incompetence are also forced by the times and cannot be sublime.
Therefore, they can't write cursive script well. Is this "everyone uses his own feet" to fulfill him (them) on the one hand and restrict him (them) on the other? " They "don't want to write cursive, but they can't write well, so they have to give up."
I remember Mr. Lin Sanzhi's poem, "The answer is today, and it's called Gone with the Wind." ("Shen is pregnant with a master") What we can see today are people who are quite "floating in name"-calligraphers who are always willing to talk, and calligraphers who can always be eloquent and stand up and speak without being too embarrassed.
Of course, I have no intention to blame some abnormal trends on the statement that cursive script is the highest form of calligraphy art, and there are still many worrying problems in the book world. But in fact, the extent to which this fallacy is "deeply rooted in the hearts of the people" and "won the hearts of the people" can be said to be shocking. The reason why we are keen on chasing and exaggerating the statement that cursive script is the highest expression form of calligraphy art is because the expression form of cursive script can be eager to try and get immediate results in the eyes of quite a few people. Therefore, those who are busy with utilitarianism, those who are unwilling to do their homework, those who bluff, those who play tricks, those who have no ink on their chests, those who are confused and bold, and those who are beautifully dressed and arty. Wait, wait. If we pay a little attention to the historical reality that several cursive writers made great achievements in cursive script in the whole Song Dynasty in 3 19 (960- 1279), and then face the huge situation of today's book world, will we reflect?
Compared with contemporary calligraphy circles, Mr. Lin Sanzhi's cursive script has made outstanding achievements. But what kind of experience made Mr Lin Sanzhi famous? This answer can only be understood by reading the preface written by Mr. Lin for the Collection of Lin Sanzhi Paintings and Calligraphy (Shanghai Fine Arts Publishing House 198 1 1 Edition). Mr. Lin said: "I started learning Tang steles at the age of sixteen;" Learn running script and rice after thirty; Learn cursive script after sixty. " It is embodied in "learning books, learning from Mr. Fan, changing; After Mr. Zhang, it has changed; After Mr. Huang and his travels, he changed; After ancient times, it changed again. ..... Like silkworms spinning silk and bees making honey, can it become silk and honey overnight? The depth of support, the brewing time, and success. By gradual change rather than mutation, mutation is also defeated. " Compared with Mr. Lin Sanzhi, what do you think of today's famous cursive script?
Treating calligraphers of past dynasties, Mr. Huang said: "Everyone has different achievements in ancient and modern times. They are all fat and thin, and each has its own beauty." Faith is what scholars say.
Mr. Lin Sanzhi has some thoughts about learning calligraphy. The following is an excerpt from the conclusion of this paper.
The ancients said: industry is good at chaos. Ancient great calligraphers only focused on two kinds, for fear of distracting themselves. You can't change your mind, just try. During the Tang and Song Dynasties, the herringbone was different from generation to generation, and each family had its own face. Yan, Liu and Li don't write Han tablets, seal scripts, etc. I am afraid of distracting myself. Ouyang Xiu also studied painting, but he didn't lose it later. There are too many and too few, so don't be curious.
Ouyang Xiu learned everything about poetry, literature, books and paintings in his youth. Some people say that you can't be good at one thing. As a result, he specialized in poetry and literature and became everyone. People's energy is limited, and it is impossible to be good at everything. Therefore, study should be single-minded.
Learn from the Tang and Song Dynasties, and each generation has its own generation. Han tablet, Jin people can't learn, just practice kung fu; It is good to learn regular script from Song Dynasty, but it is difficult to learn it well.
Man is omnipotent and can't be good at everything. An inch long, but a foot short. You can't change your mind, you must see a line of love. Learning a subject well is not easy!
Huai Su is only famous for its cursive script. The beauty of Dongpo's learning is that he can change. He only writes lines and letters. Min Nangong may not know how to stamp the official seal, but only write cursive script.
Not much; Shen is famous as a worker. Ouyang Gong is brilliant and proficient in poetry, literature, books and paintings. Later, following the advice of his friends, he specialized in poetry, focusing on literature, and later became one of the eight masters.
Get one or two jobs from the ancients, persevere, and hope to succeed. I have dabbled too much, and it is difficult to achieve anything without being proficient in one line. Wang Fuzhi said, "If you are specialized, you will die."
