This wind-driven boulder stands on the cliff, 4.37 meters high, 44.47 meters wide, 4.46 meters long, weighing about 200 tons, with a pointed top and rounded bottom, shaped like a fairy peach, majestically "resting" on a bed. On a rock that is raised and tilted toward the sea, the contact area between the two rocks is only more than ten square centimeters. When the strong wind blows, the boulder will sway slightly. If a person lies on his back on the rock, lifts his feet and pushes, the boulder will also sway, but it will not fall down. When people stand under the Fengdong Stone, they have a thrilling feeling and marvel at the wonders of the world, hence the name "Fengdong Stone". The poem says: "The wind blows a stone and everything moves."
On the Fengdong Stone there is an inscription by Lu Zhenfei, the autumn governor of Wuzi in Ming Dynasty (1648), "Three loyal ministers of Tongshan: Huang Daozhou, Chen Yao and Chen Shiqi". On the right side of the rock are the four characters "Dongbi Xinghui" inscribed by Xiashan laymen in the Ming Dynasty. On the left side is a stone tablet inscribed by Cheng Chaojing, the admiral of the Ming Navy.
There is also a beautiful legend about the wind-moving stone. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, Japanese pirates invaded Dongshan Island and tried to snatch away this strange wind-moving stone. They used several warships, put on ropes, and tried their best to pull it away. It, but the Japanese pirates tried their best, and only heard a few "bang" sounds. The ropes were all broken, and the Japanese pirates fell into the sea one after another, very embarrassed, but the wind-moving stone still stood in place.
About the wind-driven stone, celebrities in the past dynasties have sung many poems. For example, Wen Sanjun of the Ming Dynasty said in a poem: "This stone is a star in the sky. It is not the wind that shakes the stone. The cloud roots are directly connected to the locust ladle. Yueguan is worthy of the ladder Xiaobahong."
