What touching legends does Hefei have?

In the Southern Song Dynasty more than 800 years ago, there was a commoner literati named Jiang Kui (sound: Kui) in Poyang, Jiangxi Province. He was proficient in poetry and versatile. He was one of the three major schools of poetry in the Song Dynasty. He was famous for his music, calligraphy, etc. He also has profound attainments in this field. Jiang Kui had no talent in his life and wandered among the six provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Jiangxi, Hunan and Hubei, making a living by selling his writing and relying on celebrities, officials, relatives and friends. While in Hefei, he met a pair of sisters who were proficient in playing the pipa and the guzheng in concert. The sisters lived in an alley west of Chilan Bridge (near today's Hefei No. 8 Middle School on Tongcheng Road). Because they were in love with each other, Jiang Kui lived in Chilan Bridge from then on, spending all day long with his two sisters, reciting poems and writing lyrics, playing the piano (talking about love), and lived a beautiful and romantic life.

After Jiang Kui left Hefei, he always missed the Hefei Pipa Girl, and he couldn’t let go of her. This longing complex runs through many of his poems. I will choose two relatively easy-to-understand songs for everyone to read: "Send Fan Zhongne to Hefei" My family once lived in Chilanqiao, and the neighbors were not lonely. If you arrive, it is already half autumn, and the willows in Xifengmen Lane will be rustling. "Partridge Sky" I had a dream on the eve of the Yuan Dynasty. The fertile water flowed eastward for an endless period. At first, I missed the kind of lovesickness. In the dream, I saw nothing better than the picture. In the secret, I was suddenly startled by the cry of mountain birds. The spring is not yet green, the temples are silky, and the long separation in the world cannot be sad. Who knows the red lotus night every year, the two places are silent and know each other.

At that time, Hefei was a border town in the Southern Song Dynasty. During the turmoil of the Jin Dynasty, Chilan Bridge was destroyed in the war, and the Pipa sisters disappeared. When Jiang Kui reached his twilight years, he came to Hefei again in the midst of war and chaos, looking for the two close friends. He found no trace of the two sisters until he found Chaohu.

This poignant love story is innocent and touching. And Jiang Kui wrote a series of poignant poems related to Chilan Bridge, which made people think more about this story and allowed this story to be passed down through the ages. In order to commemorate Jiang Kui and explore the history and culture of Hefei, following the active suggestion of the Jiang Kui Literature and Art Research Association, the relevant departments of Hefei City built a row of relief walls at the northwest corner of the intersection of Tongcheng Road and Wuhu Road and renamed the Tongcheng Road Bridge Chilan Bridge.
