Chaozhou Hanwen Temple Monument is an essay written by Su Shi in Song Dynasty. This article was written by Su Shi in March of the seventh year (1092), at the request of Wang Di, the magistrate of Chaozhou, to rebuild Hanyu Temple in Chaozhou.

Creative background: Wang Di, the ruler of Chaoshan (now Chao 'an County, Guangdong Province), wrote to Su Shi to write an inscription for Hanyu Temple after he rebuilt it in Yuan You, Song Zhezong for seven years (1092). Su Shi did as he said, and soon sent a calligraphy sample to Wang Di. This is the famous essay "Chaozhou Chinese Temple Monument".

About the author: Su Shi (1038 ~ 1 102), a native of Meizhou, Meishan, Northern Song Dynasty, was named Zizhan. He is a famous writer, one of the eight masters in Tang and Song Dynasties. He is knowledgeable and versatile, and has high attainments in calligraphy, painting, poetry and prose. His calligraphy is called "Song Sijia" with Cai Xiang, Huang Tingjian and Mi Fei.
