The history of Yangjiang Liangyang Middle School

The predecessor of Guangdong Liangyang Middle School was the "Guangfu Middle School" founded in 1903. Guangfu Middle School was a provincial school at the time. It was the pioneer of Guangdong's "new" education system in the late Qing Dynasty and the birthplace of modern secondary education in Guangdong, laying the foundation for the development of modern education in Guangdong. After that, the school was successively renamed as "Guangdong Provincial Guangfu Middle School" and "Guangdong Provincial Second Middle School"; in 1930, the school was shut down due to a fire, and the students were merged into the Provincial No. 1 Middle School (now Guangya Middle School); in 1932, The school moved to its current location in Yangjiang and resumed operation. In 1936, the school was renamed "Guangdong Provincial Liangyang Middle School". In 1951, the school was named Guangdong Liangyang Middle School. During the Cultural Revolution, the school suffered serious damage and was reorganized into Ganglie Middle School. In 1978, it was hosted by Yangjiang County and named " "Yangjiang County Liangyang Middle School" until 1984 when the school name was restored to Guangdong Liangyang Middle School.

For more than 100 years, Guangdong Liangyang Middle School has made important contributions to the liberation and construction of the motherland and nation, both in the era of war and the era of peace and construction. In 1938, the patriotic and progressive teachers and students of the school, adhering to the spirit of "patriotism, honoring the school, and constant self-improvement" of the two middle schools, participated in the "Youth Group" organized by the Communist Party of China, studied Marxism-Leninism, and participated in anti-Japanese and national salvation activities. In November of the same year, the Communist Party of China established the first school party branch in the Yangjiang area at the school to carry out anti-Japanese and national salvation propaganda work, set off a study wave against suppression, and actively participated in the pre-liberation work. In October 1948, the school party organization, with the support of the Jiangcheng District Party Committee and the leaders of the Yangdong guerrillas, organized students to launch a wave of anti-persecution study. In July 1949, the school established a youth league organization.

During the turbulent years, Liangyang Middle School was not only the cradle of cultivating revolutionary seeds, but also an important position for imparting cultural knowledge. It has not only cultivated a group of outstanding revolutionary leaders, but also cultivated a large number of experts, scholars and professors, cultivating generations of outstanding talents for the liberation cause of the Chinese people and the cause of socialist modernization.
