After arriving in Yan'an, Liu Zhilan worked in the Women's Committee of the Northern Bureau of the Communist Party of China and served as the instructor of the Northern Shaanxi Public School branch. On April 16, 1939, he married Zuo Quan in Beicun, Lucheng, the headquarters of the Eighth Route Army. One year after their marriage, Zuo Quan gave birth to a daughter, Zuo Taibei, to 35-year-old Zuo Quan. Worked in Yan'an Nursery School in 1940. She was only 25 years old in 1942. After marrying Zuo Quan, she only got together for more than a year before breaking up. She was heartbroken at the time, but with Commander-in-Chief Zhu's repeated comfort and encouragement, she endured her grief and wrote an article in Yan'an's "Liberation Daily" in memory of Zuo Quan. After getting over the sad time, she took the initiative to stay away from the circle of her husband during his lifetime and worked hard on her own ability. Six years after Zuo Quan's death, 31-year-old Liu Zhilan reorganized her family, but Zuo Quan will always be the first in her heart. After Zuo Quan died, she learned that her husband had been accused of being a "Trotskyist" and had been fighting for more than 10 years. After she ran around and wrote many letters, the central government finally vindicated Zuo Quan for being persecuted by Wang Ming's line, and canceled the "party probation" punishment for comrade Zuo Quan. This also shows that Zuo Quan did not love Liu Zhilan wrongly back then. If he had lived, Liu Zhilan would not only be his good partner in life, but also his good political comrade. Died in 1992.
