Su Shi was the most influential scholar and artist in Song Dynasty. His calligraphy is far from the "Two Kings" and close to Yan Zhenqing, Liu Gongquan, Li Yong and Yang Ningshi. His representative works include Huangzhou Cold Food Poetry Post and New Year Greeting Post. Huang Tingjian's calligraphy, on the other hand, is rich in learning from others, with a compact middle palace and a wide periphery, and his pen is horizontal and vertical, like a paddle. His representative works include Li Bai's Memories of Time Past, Poems of Various Seats, Poems of Songfengge, Poems of Flowers, etc. Mi Fei's calligraphy won the essence of the "two kings", with diverse structures, varied and brilliant. His representative works include: cursive script post, Tiaoxi poetry anthology, Shusu post, Coral post, Chong Zhongyue's life poem, Hong Xian's poem post and so on. Cai Xiang's calligraphy was greatly influenced by Yan and Liu, and he wrote Wan 'an Bridge, Assistant Lang Tie, Poem Thinking, Spring Tie and so on.
Song Huizong worships art and is the most famous painter and calligrapher of the emperor in history. His calligraphy style "thin gold book" is ups and downs, elegant and unique. Representative works include Thin Gold Thousand Characters, Cursive Thousand Characters, and Cursive Style. There were many writers and calligraphers in Song Dynasty, such as Tong, Wen Yanbo, Lin Bu, Fan Zhongyan, Ouyang Xiu, Su Shi, Su Xun, Sima Guang, Wang Anshi, Zhang Shunmin, Cai Jing, Xue, Mi Youren, Ye Mengde, Lu You, Fan Chengda, Zhu, Wu Shuo, Wen Tianxiang and Jiang Jiang.
The emphasis on "meaning" in Song Dynasty's calligraphy is an update to the creative concept of "Fa" in Tang Dynasty's calligraphy. The calligraphy of Yan Zhenqing in the Tang Dynasty and Yang Ningshi in the Five Dynasties had the greatest influence on Song people, precisely because their calligraphy was more interesting than testimonies.
In addition, a large number of literati, poets, and poets' specialties in calligraphy are also surpassing the law and advocating interest. There were no masters of seal script, official script and regular script in Song Dynasty, which was not only due to luck, but also related to the characteristics of calligraphers at that time. It can be said that China's calligraphy and Song Dynasty were a great turning point: the artistic "factor" was separated from the combination of practicality and artistry. A large number of ink marks handed down in the Song Dynasty are like letters, which more embodies the calligrapher's conscious personal temperament.
