Xiao Shu's parents died in the historical period of Japan's invasion of China and became orphans in the 1940s. But he loved the quintessence of Chinese culture and art since childhood. Thanks to the artistic influence of Guan Pinghu, a master of Chinese music, he taught himself classical poetry, calligraphy and other national quintessence cultures in his lonely life. As early as 1950s, he knew Shen Congwen and other ancient literati, as well as China painting masters Li Keran, Hu, Fu Baoshi and so on. Chronology of major events
In 1950s, he sold poems, books and paintings with independent style in the Peace Painting Shop founded by contemporary painter Xu Linlu. His masterpiece in 1960s: Zheng He's nautical chart (length 13.80, width 0.58 m), and in 1970s, he founded wood carving factories in Anping County and Shenxian County, Hebei Province. In 1980s, he returned to Beijing to teach China's cultural and artistic theory, and at the same time, he created works such as "Crossing a Thousand Troops with One Boat" and "Wu Xiaoling", which were published in professional magazines of fine arts and traditional Chinese painting. 1988 Selected Paintings of Xiao Shu was published (Beijing Palace Museum Press).
1990 Xiao Shu's Painting Collection was published (Hong Kong).

At the beginning of 1999, the 100-meter-long scroll "The Map of Ancient Gods and Cows" was published, with a collection fee of 8 million RMB. 1992 was invited to participate in Japan.
1994 and 1995 were invited to Korea twice to participate in exhibitions and art activities.
On July 2nd, 1995, Seoul Education Television broadcasted a 45-minute interview program with Xiao Shu and his wife Lei Zhao (painter) entitled "Modern Literati Xiao Shu and Lei Zhao in China". Invited by Gu Mu, Sun Mu, the leader of the State Council for many times, he painted poems for the World Intellectual Property Organization and the China-US Conference.
