In September 1953, Teng County Prefecture and Huxi Prefecture were merged into Jining Prefecture (based in Jining), and Teng County was changed to Jining Prefecture; at the same time, Baiyan County was abolished, and the 5 areas under its jurisdiction that originally belonged to Teng County were Each district was assigned to Teng County; Weishan County was established, and the lake area under the jurisdiction of Teng County was assigned to Weishan County. In March 1956, Xuecheng County and Fushan County were abolished, and part of their jurisdiction was placed under Teng County. In December of the same year, Shandong Province adjusted the level of counties, and Teng County was upgraded from an A-level county to a special-level county. In March 1960, 164 natural villages in Lincheng Commune of Teng County (today's entire Xuecheng District of Zaozhuang) were included in Zaozhuang City. On January 1, 1979, Teng County was transferred to Zaozhuang City. In November 1983, Qicun District of Zaozhuang City was abolished and Shanting District (Zhushanting) was established, including Dianzi, Fengmao, Xinzhuang, Xuzhuang, Xinzhao, Shanting, Sangcun, and Chengtou in the eastern part of Teng County.
