He is a calligraphy genius. When he was in his twenties and thirties, he copied ancient calligraphy frequently and imitated the original ones. He borrowed ancient calligraphy from others and returned them two at a time. The owner chose them. Sometimes the owner chose the ones he copied, and he included the original ones. In the bag. With such a character, few people scolded him. Who wants to call a madman, let alone a genius madman! Simply, just let your temper go, appreciate him and worship him. At this point, you may have guessed that he is Mi Fu.
There are geniuses in calligraphy, but calligraphy geniuses are a little different from other geniuses. Like painting or singing, they may not have received professional training or guidance from a master. Geniuses can become amazing if they put a little thought into it. Incredible. But calligraphy, no matter how talented you are, if you don't read, don't think, and don't meet a master to teach you, your years will still be wasted. Mi Fu once had this confusion. At first, he learned from his contemporaries and read ancient texts. He wrote quite well at a young age. But he kept writing and found that he was just "collecting ancient characters", and a bottleneck appeared. This was the biggest confusion Mi Fu encountered in his early thirties. How to break the bottleneck and reach new heights? He thought of someone. But unfortunately, this is a very good person, and now, he is down. This person is Su Shi.
First meeting: In a word, Mi Fu met Su Shi for the first time in his life, in the fifth year of Yuanfeng (1082). This year Su Shi was 45 years old and Mi Fu was 31 years old. At that time, Su Shi had just been demoted to Huangzhou, and Mi Fu went to see him. Mi Fu recorded his first meeting with Su Shi in "History of Painting": "I worked in Huangzhou from Hunan. When I first met Gong (Su Shi), he was drunk and said: 'You put this paper on the wall.'" Guanyin paper is also Then he made two bamboo branches, a dead tree, and a strange stone." Mi Fu also went with Dong Yue and Mianzhu Taoist Yang Shichang. They asked Mi Fu to put stickers on the wall when they first met. This shows that Su Shi took advantage of this little brother. See no outside. And Mi Fu meeting Su Shi at this time is enough to prove that this man is very righteous. A high-ranking central official was demoted to deputy commander of a militia company. Many people wanted to stay away from him, but Mi Fu moved forward because he was a good friend. Su Shi, the eldest brother, was also very worthy of him. The two talked about many things about calligraphy. Anyway, after breaking up, Mi Fu listened to Su Shi's words and said, "He began to study Jin people, and his calligraphy made great progress." Listening to your words is worth ten years of writing. The confusion in his heart was resolved, and from then on, Mi Fu embarked on a bright road leading to a calligraphy master.
: Saying Goodbye, It’s Hard to Say Goodbye In 1101, the tortured Su Shi returned from outside the mountains, passed by Nanjing, and met Mi Fu. At this time, Su Shi was 64 years old and Mi Fu was 50 years old. Su Shi's life of poverty has ended. He returned north all the way, and the titles he was deprived of continued to return. While visiting Jinshan, someone asked Su Shi to write an inscription. Su Shi said: "There is Yuan Zhang." Mi Fu said: "Someone tasted the Duanming in the north, but others did not dare." Su Shi patted him on the back: "Now the young man is better than the blue man." Then Mi Fu began to talk to himself, slowly saying : "He who knows me clearly and truly knows me". Duanming is Su Shi's official position, and he is a bachelor of Duanming Palace. This story tells us that in the past 20 years, Mi Fu's calligraphy has advanced by leaps and bounds, and people have become more and more wild. Shortly after this meeting, Su Shi began to suffer from stomach upset. Mi Fu also gave medicine, but it didn't work. In June, Su Shi met Mi Fu again in the East Garden of Yizheng, Jiangsu Province. The two talked all night long and drank a lot of cold drinks. The two stayed together for ten days and had a great time chatting. However, Su Shi's stomach was always not good. After bidding farewell to Mi Fu and moving to Changzhou, Su Shi died here a month later. Later generations verified that Su Shi suffered from bacterial dysentery. It is such a pity that a minor illness that can be solved by a few furosemide pills today has cost a generation of lives. I also often think that if Su Shi hadn't met Mi Fu, chatted less happily, and hadn't drank so many cold drinks, maybe he could have lived longer?

The ranking of the four Song families has always been controversial. Of course, the most discussed topic is whether Cai should be on the list. Some people say that Su Shi should not be ranked first and Mi Fu should not be ranked third. In fact, as long as we review the relationship between Mi Fu and Su Shi, we will understand that without Mi Fu, Su Shi would still be Su Shi; but without Su Shi, it is hard to say whether Mi Fu would still be the later Mi Fu. Sumi's relationship can be described as a gentleman's friendship.
Mi Fu took political risks to consult his seniors, and Su Shi supported his younger brother without reservation. This scene is very heartwarming to think about. If I could travel through time, I would like to become Su Shi, and then ask Mi Fu a question: What is the most beautiful encounter in your life?
