Bachelor Ji Xiaolan wrote an inscription for Confucius. Why did he deliberately write two wrong words?

In front of the Confucius Temple, there is a very famous couplet. It is said that this couplet is the work of Ji Xiaolan, a famous college student in Qing Dynasty. The first couplet is "the official residence where you live with the country in times of peace and prosperity", and the second couplet is "the moral saint who lives together for one day". The calligraphy art of this couplet is magnificent, which can be said to be one of the masterpieces that can be met but not sought after.

However, if someone carefully observes this couplet, they will find that there are two very obvious "typos" in this couplet: the word "rich" in the upper couplet is inexplicably missing, while the word "chapter" in the lower couplet finally breaks out.

Ji Xiaolan, the editor-in-chief of Tang Tang Sikuquanshu, has a very high level of education, so it is impossible not to find these two typos. The reason why these two words are misspelled is because the word "rich" is a little less, which represents Confucius' "rich without top"; The word "Zhang" in the second couplet stands for Confucius' "the article reaches heaven".

In fact, if we only discuss it from the direction of the text, we will find two ways of writing: "Fu" and "Zhang". At that time, it was just a vulgar writing, and later simplified Chinese characters were eliminated when they developed.

And in history, this vulgar writing is even more popular. At that time, the word "fu", which didn't add extra points, was more popular with calligraphers. The word "Zhang" was also marked in Yan's "Ganlu Zishu" in the Tang Dynasty, and the early word "Zhang" was a common word for "Zhang".

On the other hand, the Qing emperors attached great importance to the activities of offering sacrifices to Confucius. If these two words were indeed misspelled, it would be impossible for the Qing emperor to allow these two misspelled words to hang at the entrance of Confucius' House for nearly 300 years. Because this kind of plaque will be imitated by Confucius temples in various provinces of China, if there is any mistake, it will affect the face of the Qing emperor.
