Open. Nanjing Jiming Temple will resume its opening to the public in an orderly manner from April 29, 2022.
Jiming Temple is named after Jiming Mountain. Jiming Temple is located in Beijige Mountain, also known as "Chicken Cage Mountain". This mountain was famous for its academy in the early days. Later, in the Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty, In four years (1381), after Zhu Yuanzhang, who was not very well-educated, conquered the world, he also knew the importance of culture. He wanted to build the Imperial Academy, so he went to Jilong Mountain to choose a site. Later, he chose the site at the east foot of Jilong Mountain. It may be on the former site of Prince Jingling's "Gathering of Scholars from All Overseas", but the name of the mountain "Chicken Coop" is obviously not in line with the holy intention, so it was renamed "Chicken Cry", which means "Morning Joy and Diligence".
The main buildings in Jiming Temple include the Main Hall, Guanyin Tower, Weituo Hall, Zhi Cemetery, Sutra Collection Building, Buddha Chanting Hall, Pharmacist Pagoda, Rouge Well, Huomeng Tower, and Jingyang Tower. The Outer Mountain Gate, Three Masters Pavilion, Bell and Drum Tower, Zen Room, Vegetarian Restaurant and other buildings cover an area of ??about 50,000 square meters. The Shanmen Archway "Jiming Temple" was inscribed by Zhao Puchu, a famous calligrapher and former president of the Chinese Buddhist Association. Couplets written by Shi Dingzhi, Zhu Fan, Yu Zaohua and other famous calligraphy treasures.
