Brief introduction of jinxing inkstone

Jinxing inkstone is a traditional famous inkstone of Han nationality, and it is a cultural relic and handicraft with high ornamental value. Made of jinxing stone, polished and carved, it is known as the light of Luyan inkstone, comparable to Duanyan inkstone. Jinxing inkstone is named for its various golden spots, such as phoenix eye, golden circle, golden halo, golden flower wavy pattern, roe pattern and eyebrow pattern. Jinxing inkstone is produced in the east slope of Qishan, Liu Zhuang Township, Feixian County, Linyi City, Shandong Province, near Qishan Temple. Linyi is the hometown of Wang Xizhi, a great calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. It is said that Wang Xizhi occasionally got this stone and couldn't put it down. He ground it into an inkstone and regarded it as a treasure, so he was a descendant. In 2006, Jinxing inkstone was approved by the Ministry of Culture as a national intangible cultural heritage.
