China's calligraphy is the oldest unique visual art known. There is no obvious date in its evolution and inheritance, not one! If China's writing is classified as calligraphy from its origin to its artistic budding, it can be traced back to 6000 years ago.
In such a long time, countless calligraphers and craftsmen have emerged. They not only shine brilliantly in their own times, but also leave many dazzling calligraphy art treasures to the world in their limited lives.
stone characters/statues carved on cliffs
Feng, an expert on cultural relics appraisal in Qing Dynasty, said, "Carving a mountain is called a cliff". Cliff carving is a tough way for the ancients to remember things. Due to the great difficulty of stone carving technology, cliff stone carving usually only records major events or important activities at that time, which often has rich historical connotation and important historical value.
Yanran Mountain Carved Cliff Stone Carvings
For example, in the first year of Yongyuan in Dahan, General Dou Xian made an expedition to Xiongnu, and Ban Gu (a famous historian in the Eastern Han Dynasty) was appointed as the guard of the China Guards. In this battle, the enemy 1.3 million people were killed, more than 200,000 people were captured, and countless horses, cattle, sheep and camels were captured. To commemorate this victory, Ban Gu wrote the famous inscription "Feng Yanran Mountain" and carved it on the cliff of Yanran.
Since then, more than 2000 years have passed, and no one knows where this stone carving is. It was finally discovered by the Sino-Mongolian cooperative research team in July 2065438+2007, allowing us modern people to travel through time and space and share the joy of the ancient people's victory.
Scroll calligraphy works
Scroll calligraphy is one of the most important calligraphy art forms in ancient China. Because the paper calligraphy or ink calligraphy is easier to study the calligrapher's brushwork, ink method and writing feeling, it is more valued by calligraphy lovers than the calligraphy of stone tablets.
