Teacher Wang Chuanshan, who is known as the "king of small letters" in the calligraphy circle, praised Liu Mingzhou's "iron pen" calligraphy as "first-class in China".
In order to absorb more artistic nutrition, Liu Mingzhou went to Foshan several times, tried carving in Shiwan doll, then carved purple sand in Yixing, Jiangsu Province, and then carved porcelain blanks in Jingdezhen. He seriously visited local masters of arts and crafts to exchange experiences, discussed the essence of the relationship between calligraphy and pottery carving, and summed up a set of his own artistic techniques of regular script pottery carving through repeated touching and comparison.
Liu Mingzhou loves pottery. He held an exhibition in his old house, divided into two parts.
1. Some of his exquisite lettering works in the past ten years are displayed in the living room. Second, the back room is the exhibition room of the dormitory reconstruction, which displays his steel seal works, full of hard work and sweat. There are single pages, large notebooks, polished steel plates, pens with bare tips, wax paper and various mimeographed tools, which record Liu Mingzhou's career as a "porter" from 1950s to 1970s. Every pen, piece of paper and article records the artist's extraordinary life.
For decades, my wife scolded me for self-mutilation;
The sea of ink is boundless, and there is no regret.
After retirement, for the development of his calligraphy art and ceramic carving art, Liu Mingzhou finally decided to locate his artistic life in Qinzhou, his hometown, after on-the-spot investigation and careful comparison with some famous ceramic bases in China.
There is such a poem as a portrayal:
After 70 years of wind and rain, it is profitable to live.
Yangcheng is not a place for pleasure. Ni Xing told me to go back to Qinzhou.
Frank, true, sincere and frank, without profound or gorgeous text modification, but plain and humorous, very touching!
