This sentence was written by Chen Shou, a historian in the Western Jin Dynasty. The original text is as follows:
At the beginning of the day, the Lord said, "Chengdu has 800 mulberry plants and 15 hectares of barren land. The children have enough food and clothes. As for the minister's position outside the country, there is no other scheduling. Take food and clothing, learn to be an official, don't treat students differently, and grow up. If on the day I die, I don't have enough money inside, and I have money outside, so that I can pay my debts to your majesty. " And pawn, as it says.
Interpretation of vernacular Chinese: Zhuge Liang made his wish clear to his ancestors from the beginning: "I have 800 mulberry trees in Chengdu and 15 hectares of wasteland, and my children are exempted from daily food and clothing expenses." As for the minister's post abroad, there is no additional expenditure arrangement, and food, clothing, housing and transportation are provided by the state, so there is no need to manage other industries to increase family wealth. I will not let my family have extra clothes and money when I die, so as to live up to your majesty's kindness and trust. "By the time (he) died, it was just like what he said before.
