Development status:

The major of Chinese language and literature is the main major of Chinese Department in China universities. Peking University China Literature Department first established this major, and its predecessor was China Literature of Shi Jing University Hall. 1910 On March 3 1 day, Shi Jing University established the "China Literature Gate", which officially became the teaching system of liberal arts.

This is the earliest Chinese Department in China, and its establishment marks the beginning of the formation of a modern independent discipline of language and literature in China. Later, the Chinese Department of Beijing Normal University and the Chinese Department of Fudan University were established one after another, becoming institutions of higher learning offering Chinese language and literature. During this period, a large number of famous scholars such as Lu Xun, Hu Shi, Liu Bannong, Shen Congwen, Wang Li and Fei Ming emerged in the research and teaching of this subject.
