Song Zhenzong Zhao Heng (December 23, 968 - March 23, 1022), whose real name was Zhao Dechang, was renamed Zhao Yuanxiu and Zhao Yuankan. The third emperor of the Song Dynasty (reigned from May 8, 997 to March 23, 1022), the third son of Song Taizong Zhao Guangyi, his mother was Empress Li of Yuande.

Zhao Hengli was granted the title of King of Han, King of Xiang and King of Shou, and he once served as the prefect of Kaifeng. In the first year of Zhidao (995), he was appointed as the prince by Song Taizong and changed his name to Zhao Heng. In the third year of Zhidao (997), Taizong died and Zhao Heng ascended the throne as emperor. At the beginning of his accession to the throne, he appointed Li Hang, Lu Duan and others as prime ministers, and they were diligent in political affairs and promoted the "Government of Xianping". In the first year of Jingde (1004), under the persuasion of Kou Zhun, the prime minister of the main war faction, Yu Jia went on a personal expedition and defeated the Liao army in Chanyuan. Finally, the "Chanyuan Alliance" was reached, realizing a hundred years of peace between Song and Liao. In the later period of his reign, Wang Qinruo and Ding Wei were appointed as prime ministers, and Empress Liu gradually became involved in politics. In addition, he indulged in the matter of enshrining Zen and built temples extensively, which wasted people and money, leading to deepening social conflicts. In the first year of Qianxing (1022), Zhao Heng died in Yanqing Hall, Kaifeng, at the age of fifty-five. His posthumous title is "Emperor Demingming Wudingzhang Shengyuanxiao after the ancient magic power of Fuji", the temple name is Zhenzong, and he is buried in Yongding Mausoleum.

Zhao Heng loves literature and is good at calligraphy. The proverb "There is a house of gold in the book, and there is beauty like jade in the book", which comes from the "Li Xue Pian" written by him. He is the author of three hundred volumes of "Yu Zhi Ji" handed down to the world. Today, only six volumes of "Yu Jing Ji" remain, and his poems are recorded in "Quan Song Poetry".
