Zhu's other hobbies

Zhu studied calligraphy and painting and played chess with his father since childhood. During his study in Normal University, Zhu served as the president of Xuesheng Painting and Calligraphy Society, and studied under a number of famous painters such as Wei Tianchi. After returning to Changshu, I got the advice from Mr An and Mr Cao Datie.

Zhu always pursued calligraphy first. From Wei and Jin Dynasties to the major schools of Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties, he gradually got his hands on them one by one to distinguish their gains and losses. Influenced by Wei Tianchi, his running script has a "free and easy style". Talking about the relationship between calligraphy and guqin, Zhu believes that calligraphy is also essential for guqin players, because it helps to reach a certain level. If you understand and experience it with the heart of music, you will get new emotions. The timbre, rhythm, melody and texture of music collide with the black and white, rhythm, style and composition of calligraphy, which makes the sense of flow of music deeply embedded in calligraphy works.

Since 1998, Zhu has twice been invited to hold a personal landscape painting exhibition in Yokosuga, Japan, which is known as "the works of China literati painters" and is deeply loved by Japanese elites. Therefore, he was hired as a special painter by Changshu Painting Academy. Nowadays, calligraphy and painting have become his daily accomplishment. Walking into his study, there are calligraphy and painting works all over the wall, each of which is a static and silent music.

During his college years, Zhu Shi studied Ci and Ci from a famous poet. Since then, he took poetry writing as a compulsory course to improve his writing ability and personal literary accomplishment, and published more than 200 poems in various periodicals and magazines across the country.

"There is my ambition in the mountains" and "There is my ambition in the running water". With his strong will and unremitting struggle, Zhu strives to realize the pursuit of a traditional China scholar!
