Historical origin
Sun Shi, the ancestor of Shouzhou: two brothers, Sun Jian and Sun Kai, moved to Shouzhou from Jining, Shandong Province in the early years of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1368- 1398). Later, descendants flourished and became one of the most popular surnames among 347 local surnames (see Shouxian Annals, 1987 edition).
After the ancestor moved to live, he stayed at the temple in the city and lived in the west of Sanbuqiao. There are two manors in the countryside, one is Chengguang (now Sunchang) scattered in the south of the city, and the other is Huduogang in the west of the city.
