Does Japanese calligraphy include cursive script, running script and seal script?
This problem needs to be viewed from two aspects. Japanese calligraphy is now divided into two areas, one is China traditional calligraphy, so needless to say, it is of course a combination of various styles; Another field is Japanese calligraphy with Hiragana and Katakana. Because cursive and running scripts belong to the category of "calligraphy style", that is, a writing method, they can also be applied in Japanese calligraphy, while seal script is both a "calligraphy style" and a "font", which is unique to China. There is no such thing as "seal script" in Japanese, so of course there is no such thing as "Japanese seal script". As for the integration of some strokes of seal script into the creation of Japanese calligraphy, it is certainly possible and there are, but it cannot be regarded as a real "seal script".
