Zeng Zekun, also known as Zi Ling or Yu Ding, was born in Kaohsiung County, Taiwan in 1948. He is enthusiastic and forthright by nature and indifferent to fame and wealth. In 1955, he started calligraphy under the tutelage of Mr. Cai Kunpeng. That is to say, if you love it very much, you will be more intelligent, and you will be able to understand it every time.
In 1957, he wrote Zhao Mengfu’s dharma calligraphy and was praised as a reporting prodigy. Over time, he has been involved in a wide range of inscriptions, whether it is genuine, cursive, official, or seal script, and has a profound understanding of the spirit. Especially his large-scale calligraphy, which is even more powerful and full of charm, has been repeatedly praised.
In 1965, he won the gold medal for excellence in the Taiwan Calligraphy Competition with Yan Zhenqing’s calligraphy. Afterwards, he won many awards and became famous in the calligraphy circle.
In 1978, he was awarded the title of National Calligraphy Representative for imitating Korea and Japan. He was deeply loved by Park Chung-hee, the leader of Korea, and was ordered to write the word "Zundao" horizontally, which became famous overseas. Therefore, he formed an alliance with the Korean Haedong Calligraphy Association. Allied with Japanese calligraphy societies such as Longtang, Ziyun, and Longxuan.
In 1979, Mongolian and Taiwanese military veteran He Yingqin (respectfully known as He Jinggong, four-star general) hosted his first solo exhibition at the Sesame Hotel, Section 2, Xinyi Road, Taipei.
In 1981, he was invited by the Tainan Calligraphy Association to attend the Tainan City Social Education Center.
In 1983, he had a solo exhibition at the invitation of Kaohsiung City Social Education Center. Since then, he has become obsessed with the advancement of the charm of calligraphy and ink.
In 2010, he was awarded the title of Master of Calligraphy by His Highness Hiroaki Fushimi and His Highness Yuyasu Rokujo, the Princes of Japan, and was awarded the Gold National Badge. Qualified as a professor of literature at the Bachelor of International Cultural Promotion.
In 2011, he was promoted to academician of the International Academy of Cultural Promotion.
