Kang's running calligraphy

Kang's running script is as follows:

1. Sloping but not falling

Writing running script cannot be as straight as regular script. It needs to be dangerous and precise. It cannot affect the word balance. Generally, you can use oblique momentum to create a dangerous effect.

2. The main stroke is prominent

If the strokes of a word are not prioritized, it will be like a movie without a protagonist, unable to express clearly. Regarding how to determine the main stroke of a word, generally speaking, horizontal strokes are used for horizontal characters, and vertical strokes are used for vertical characters.

3. Spatial aesthetics

To write good cursive script, spatial structure is particularly important. When you pick up a pen, you are a designer, an architect, and a planner. It must be the same as others, but it must have a sense of beauty. Spatial structure can be designed and created through the tight and tight relationship between strokes.

4. Exaggeration and variation

Because running script is a connected character, there is no requirement that every character be the same size, and writing them all in the same size will lose the meaning of running script. Therefore, it is necessary to exaggerate individual characters or individual strokes in a work, and change the length or size to achieve a contrasting effect.

5. Contradictions and contrasts

In fact, every word in calligraphy is full of contradictory relationships. Without this relationship, the written words would have no readability, just like A movie without conflicts cannot attract the audience. Contradictions and contrasts are what we usually call length, width, height, thickness, etc.

Ringshu:

Ringshu is a general term for calligraphy, which is divided into two types: running regular script and running cursive script. It was developed on the basis of regular script and is a font between regular script and cursive script. It was created to make up for the slow writing speed of regular script and the difficulty of identifying cursive script. "Xing" means "walking", so it is not as sloppy as cursive script, nor as straight as regular script.

Essentially, it is the cursiveization of regular script or the regularization of cursive script. Those with more regular script than cursive script are called "Xing Kai", and those with more cursive script than regular script are called "Xing Cao". Running script has high practicality and artistry, while regular script is a text symbol, which is highly practical and requires skill. In comparison, cursive script has high artistic quality, but its practicality is relatively insufficient.
