The Architectural Layout of Kang Million Manor

Kang Million Manor is built on the street, with caves on the cliff, villages around it and docks on the river. It is a combination of agricultural, political and commercial styles, with rigorous layout and large scale. With a total construction area of 64,300 square meters, there are 33 courtyards, 53 buildings, 1300 houses and 73 caves. It is divided into more than ten parts, such as the main residential area in the village, the residential area under the village, the south yard, the ancestral hall area, the workshop area, the vegetable garden, Longwogou, Jinguzhai, the garden and the board room area. The whole manor consists of 19, covering an area of more than 240 mu. It is a magnificent building complex that integrates "ancient, large, elegant and beautiful" and is called the 17th National Congress. The manor was built in the middle of the Ming Dynasty and took shape in the early Ming and early Qing Dynasties. In the process of construction, buildings in the Ming Dynasty, such as Sigou and Zhanggou, and buildings in the Qing Dynasty have different functions, such as Longwogou, the main residential area in the village, the south yard, the board house area, shops, breeding areas, ancestral temples, timber factories, shipyards, Jinguzhai and so on. , supplemented by monuments, archways, gardens and other auxiliary buildings, thus forming a large manor with various functions, which is surrounded by mountains and waters.

The outline of the central area of the manor is almost intact, including the study, kitchen and studio.

Study and kitchen

The Kang family is a big family with a big kitchen, which solves the problem of eating for a large group of people. The study is next to the kitchen, and the noisy kitchen and the quiet study complement each other. There are two small pavilions and some withered old flowers and trees in this area. The decoration of the study is simple and simple, which is in sharp contrast with the luxurious studio and bedroom in the compound.

studio

The studio is next to the study. All the furniture is inlaid with sparkling jewels. The east wall is inlaid with the works of famous calligraphers in Ming and Qing dynasties; A Qing's official uniform and Kang Yingkui's sword commonly used in martial arts are hung on the Western Wall.

mourning hall

On the west side of the study is a mourning hall with ancestral tablets. There are many beautiful shrines and inscriptions about Mr. Zu's death. Masons spend three months carving each stone tablet.

Pillars and pedestals

The pedestal of stone pillars everywhere in the manor is eye-catching. The role of stone pillars is to support the roof. This way of building can protect the stone pillars from moisture erosion. These hexagonal bases are made of crystal stone formed over the years, and flowers and figures are engraved on each face. The most imaginative figure is the hollow figure carved in the middle. It seems that the whole stone pillar is supported by them, the figures are vividly carved and the overall structure is balanced.

stone carving

There are many stone carvings about folklore stories everywhere in the yard. After hundreds of years of wind and rain, these carvings are still intact, and the fonts and outlines of the carvings are still eye-catching and beautiful. This is due to the meticulous selection of materials.

cave dwelling

One of the wonders of Konka Courtyard is in the ordinary living area. There is a cave in the living area where calligraphy and sculpture are concentrated. This cave is located at the westernmost end of the courtyard. There are 16 adult-high stone tablets on both sides of the cave, which are engraved with poems praising the owner of the manor. China calligraphy with different styles shows its charm here. The main residential area where Kangjia lives and lives not only retains the form of cave architecture and square quadrangle on the loess high slope in North China Plain, but also absorbs the characteristics of government, gardens and military fortress buildings. Some buildings are built near the street, but the interior is a cave structure; Some are caves from the outside, and there are floors inside, which are called "kiln buildings". Some kilns have three floors up and down, and the outside is full of blue bricks, which shows that the Kang family was rich at that time.

Master BedRoom

The ceiling of the master bedroom is painted with colorful colors, and the wood carvings of doors and windows also have their own characteristics. The master's nanmu bed is one of the most exquisite treasures, which was carved by the five most famous woodcarvers in that year for three years.

Opposite the bed is a wooden cart, with a height of 1 m and a length of 1.5 m, which is used to transport the wives of the manor to the toilet. Because in those days, women had to tie their feet to prevent them from growing into big feet, and women with three inches of golden lotus could not walk far, and the toilet was built in a remote place in the compound, so this wooden cart became a special means of transportation to pick up and drop off ladies and girls in and out of the toilet and bedroom. In front of their bed, there are a few pairs of little shoes with delicate patterns embroidered on their faces.

restaurant

In the dining room, there is a square table for eight people on the right. All the tableware on the table: plates, dishes, bowls, etc. It's octagonal. The Kang family is superstitious, believing that life and death depend on fate, and wealth is in the sky, so whenever a fortune teller visits, he must use this tableware to entertain him. They believe that doing so will bring good luck and wealth to the whole family. If a VIP comes to visit, the host of the Kang family will hold a large banquet according to the Manchu-Chinese tradition. On this occasion, 108 tableware is often used. The existing stone carvings, wood carvings and brick carvings in the manor are mainly figures, flowers, birds and animals, and there are carving patterns such as "adding a crown to the crown (official)" and "paying homage to the teacher in the middle of the night", which have profound meanings and rich flavor of life.

Kang Million Manor has a first-class stone pillow as the national stone carving grading standard. Carving the golden nanmu wood carving top bed, the Wang family stone carving archway, the brick carving of Sanbeilou, etc., took more than 17000 man-hours. Its artistic techniques make full use of the artistic carving techniques such as through carving, round carving and relief, and show the superb skills and wisdom of folk craftsmen in the Ming and Qing dynasties, which is a treasure in the treasure house of carving art.

Door pillow stone

The Third Courtyard, located in the main residential area of Kang Million Manor, has a group of door pillows, which is the representative work of stone carving art of Kang Million Manor. This pair of door pillows is carved from a whole piece of bluestone in three layers. The composition is novel, the carving is exquisite, the characters and animals are lifelike, and the scenes are mixed and vivid. With its exquisite carving technology and profound cultural connotation, it has been designated as a national first-class cultural relic, which is also the grading standard of first-class stone carving in China and can be called a national treasure.

A pair of lying lions are carved on the door pillow stone on the first floor. The image of a lion is very common in courts, temples and cemeteries. It squats or stands, glaring, majestic, sacred and daunting. The stone lions leaned down, innocent and very gentle and lovely.

The second floor is the essence of this pair of door pillows. It carves a group of characters' stories with profound educational significance by highlighting the ground and protruding. This set of patterns and the couplets on both sides of the hanging flower gate house set each other off. The couplets were written by Liu Yunan, the supervisor of the Qing Dynasty. The first couplet reads "There is no other way to be good in life". Master Kang knows the truth that "all virtues and filial piety are the first, and filial piety is the foundation". Therefore, the front of the doormat stone is engraved with a picture of "respecting the old and loving the young", while the inside is engraved with a picture of "sister-in-law is harmonious", which means "home and everything is prosperous". In the second part, "There is a way to pass on a family heirloom or study", Master Kang knew the old adage that "everything is inferior, only reading is high", so he carved the corresponding picture of "learning from a teacher". The young epigenetic bowed his head and bowed his hands. When he encountered difficulties in reading at night, he respectfully asked the teacher for help. The kind teacher held a lantern in one hand and stroked his beard in the other, with admiration in his eyes. Carve the pattern of "guests feast" in it to educate future generations to treat others with courtesy. Traditional etiquette paintings jump from one stone to another, and the feelings of father and son, sister-in-law, teachers and students, and friendship are vividly portrayed by craftsmen here.

On the third floor, the door pillow stone is carved with a group of traditional patterns, and the front is carved with "phoenix peony", which means "prosperity"; On the inside, there are pictures of "Kirin delivering the child" and "Golden Rooster announcing the dawn", which means "good luck, promotion and wealth".

archway of chastity

The archway in front of the banfang area of the manor is a chastity archway built by the Kang family at the request of the Qing emperor 100 years ago. Stone piers, stone pillars and stone tablets are all engraved with patterns such as twenty-four filial piety, fishing and hunting, dragons and phoenixes, rare birds and animals. The archway of Kang Million Manor used to be close to the river levee, but now it is buried deep underground, leaving only the upper part exposed on the ground. This archway clearly records the glory of the Kang family.

T-bed

The Kang family preserved the most exquisite tripod bed. It is carved with golden nanmu, and it took ten skilled craftsmen 1700 man-hours and nearly five years to make it. It adopts the carving techniques of general carving and hollow carving, and the bed post is carved in the shape of bamboo, which symbolizes that bamboo is safe and steady. Carved in the middle is Fu Lushou's Samsung, which symbolizes "Samsung shines high, longevity and well-being". On the top floor, there are officials riding high horses, and there are neat backup teams on both sides, which symbolizes soaring. The second floor is engraved with spring, summer, autumn and winter, symbolizing the peace of the four seasons. On the third floor, there are stories about people such as comity, class reading and games. Below, there are children playing with golden roosters and Kirin to send pictures, which means "good luck". Another advantage of this bed is that it can be disassembled freely. It consists of 37 parts, the whole body is riveted without a nail, which is equivalent to our present combined furniture. This bed can be said to be an outstanding representative of wood carving. There are famous paintings and antique treasures in the exhibition room, among which the "Yu" plaque was selected as the "Chinese Famous Tablet", which was written by Hanlin Niuxuan in Qing Dynasty for the children of Kang family. One nanmu T-bed consumes more than 17000 working hours. It is carved from top to bottom and from the inside out. There are 36 patterns such as Kirin pine nuts and double scarlet dance rope, which are composed of 17 parts. They can be disassembled and transported, and can be used together, both for the owner to rest and for the maid to serve. Kang Million Manor provides people with historical materials to study the real estate class in feudal society, and also provides people with physical materials of ancient buildings. Its brick carving, wood carving and stone carving art are favored by friends from all walks of life.

The folk custom exhibition area in the manor is a true portrayal of the Kang family's life at that time. Indoor curtains are hung high, the layout is fresh and elegant, and there are all kinds of expensive furniture and antique calligraphy and painting, showing the distinguished status and elegant taste of the owner.

Residual plaque

"Canbian" is one of China's famous plaques in Kang Million Manor. "Remaining plaque" is 1.65 m long and 0.75 m wide. Carved out of boxwood, it is hung in the main living room of a yard of Kangwan Manor. It is now hanging in the lobby of the First Hospital in the main residential area of Wan Kang Manor. It is a plaque of family instruction for Konka to educate children, and it is also a concentrated expression of the Confucian doctrine of the mean that "wealth can't be revealed, poverty can't be exhausted". The "Yu Yu" plaque has a unique shape and looks like a flag with a concave top and a convex bottom. The upper concave means: the upper half is more than the sky, worthy of the court; Downward projection means: the lower part stays on the ground, which is worthy of the people and future generations.

Endless wealth returns to the court; Leave more than enough and inexhaustible wealth to repay the people; Leave more than enough, endless blessings to repay future generations. No one does not regret what he has done. As Gao Jingyi said, there is room for others to go first. When the money is relaxed, there will be a aftertaste. Push it, let it be. The old man is paying tribute with the word "Yu" and affixing the inscription of the remaining Taoist priest to show his descendants. For a few words, and take the words of Mr. Xia Feng's instructions, with the attachment: If you know the way of the family? The rest is just taboo. At the same time, the new moon is waiting at the end of Xin, and the foolish nephew Niu Xuanjing has a topic. Wang Boda, a Taoist priest who stayed in France to farm, said in Liu Siming: "Leave room, don't return all your skills to the creator;" Leave room, don't return the salary to the court; Leave room, don't return all the property to the people; Leave room, don't enjoy the blessings of future generations alone. " Maybe God is against greed and doing things too much. Because I have gone too far, there is no one who does not leave regrets. Gao Jingyi, a hermit in the Ming Dynasty, said: "If something happens, there is naturally room for turnover; When property is relaxed, it will naturally be fun. " Old man Yuan Tan wrote the word "Liu Yu" on a plaque and hung it in the class, which is to warn future generations with "Liu Siming" written by Taoist priests.

Woodblock New Year Pictures of "Three Living Fortune"

Kang Million Manor has a collection of woodcut New Year pictures of "Lucky Life". The texture of rice paper for New Year pictures is 33 cm long and 22 cm wide. This is a precious gift from the director of Rizhao Museum in Shandong Province when he visited Kang Million Manor in 1980s. From left to right, the title of the New Year picture is "There are three living God of Wealth in Henan: Shen Wansan, Kang Million and Ruan". This New Year picture also provides strong evidence for Kang Million's outstanding reputation and position in folk history.

The New Year pictures are overprinted in four colors: red, yellow, blue and black. The picture shows three living gods sitting in power and prestige. In the middle of the curtain is Shen Wansan, the richest man in the south of the Yangtze River in the early Ming Dynasty. He wore a yellow-green double gauze crown and a red embroidered robe, sitting majestically in the sun and moon, holding a gold ingot in his hand. There was a cornucopia in front of him, full of gold and silver jewelry, and the word "Shen Wansan" was written on the left side of his head. On his left is Fukang Million, a giant of Ming and Qing Dynasties, which is famous in Henan Province. I saw him wearing a jade hat in the Qing Dynasty, a green robe embroidered with tight horseshoe sleeves, a twisted beard in his left hand, and a copper coin in his right hand, reaching out to Shen Wansan, with the words "Kang Million" written on the left. On the right, Shen Wansan's figure and costume are the same as Kang Million's, and the words "Ruan" are written on the left. There is no doubt that he is another billionaire Ruan. Around the three living God of Wealth, there are scattered God of Wealth holding trollius, cornucopia, gold ingot, golden pony, etc., which symbolizes treasures everywhere, gold, silver and Man Cang, and strengthens the effect of rich financial resources.
