Zhang Leping (November 10, 1910 - September 27, 1992, male, from Haiyan, Jiaxing City, Zhejiang Province) was a contemporary Chinese cartoonist and the creator of the "San Mao" cartoon image.

He has been engaged in cartoon creation for more than 60 years. After 1949, he served as a professional painter for the Shanghai Branch of the Chinese Artists Association, Jiefang Daily, and Shanghai Children's Publishing House. After the 1980s, he served as a consultant for the Chinese Artists Association. , editor-in-chief of "Cartoon World". His cartoons are famous for political satire. After 1949, he also drew a series of illustrations of San Mao's experience in the new era, and published more than 10 cartoon collections of San Mao's images.

Zhang Leping is known as the "Father of Sanmao" and is one of the most outstanding cartoonists in contemporary China. The image of "Sanmao" he created is well known to women and children and is famous overseas. In addition, he is also the female writer Sanmao ( Chen Maoping)'s godfather.

Biography

He was born in Haiyan County, Zhejiang Province on November 10, 1910. His father, Zhang Zhouruo, was a primary school teacher. The life of a family of six. It all depends on his meager salary. His mother is good at embroidery and paper-cutting, and is Zhang Leping's earliest art enlightenment.

Zhang Leping is the youngest of the three brothers. The habit of choosing baby names is that when there are several children in the family, they are usually named Da Mao, Er Mao, San Mao... Zhang Leping has loved painting since he was a child. The beach at the seaside is his drawing board and the reeds on the shore are his brushes. .

In order to make a living after graduating from primary school in 1925, he went to work as an apprentice at the Yongyuan Wood Shop in the suburbs of Shanghai at the age of 15. The owner of the Wood Shop was proficient in acupuncture, philanthropic, and good at calligraphy. Zhang Leping liked painting. He provided encouragement and support, and often discussed with Zhang Leping, which made his painting skills improve rapidly.

Later, Zhang Leping entered a private art school, worked as a trainee in a printing factory, and worked as a trainee in Vero. The advertising company drew advertising paintings and processed manuscripts, and also drew illustrations for textbooks. Later, he joined Sanyou Industrial Co., Ltd. as a draftsman... Mr. Zhang Leping also painted some fashion design paintings, and once collaborated with Ye Qianyu on the fashion design of "Mingguang Masha" book.
