What are the types of China fonts?

Commonly used fonts are generally divided into the following seven categories:

Seal script: it is divided into big seal script and small seal script. The brushwork is thin and powerful, with many straight lines. There are Fang Bi, round pen and sharp pen, and there are many "hanging needles" for writing. Big seal script refers to inscriptions on bronze inscriptions, bronzes and six-country scripts, which retain the obvious characteristics of ancient hieroglyphics.

Li style: flat structure, strange brushwork, natural and rich style, and a sense of simplicity, but more stable and beautiful than seal script. According to the unearthed bamboo slips, official script originated in Qin Dynasty, and Cheng Miao was also called official script. Han Li reached its peak in the Eastern Han Dynasty, inherited the tradition of seal script, and opened the Wei, Jin, Southern and Northern Dynasties, which had a great influence on later calligraphy. The calligraphy circle is known as "Tang Kai of Han Li".

Regular script: the shape is straight, the strokes are straight and clear, the style is flexible and the writing is simple. Regular script is also called regular script, real script and official script. It gradually evolved from official script, becoming more simplified and more horizontal and vertical. Ci Hai is interpreted as "square, straight and exemplary".

Line style: close to handwriting, it is a font between regular script and cursive script, which is like flowing water and lively.

Song dynasty: the font is square, angular and symmetrical. It has an elegant, neat, stable and quiet style.

Imitation of Song Dynasty: Song structure, regular script brushwork, uniform stroke thickness, symmetrical structure, exposed nib and delicate font.

Yan Style, also known as Yan Shu and Yan Shu Style, is a new style of China calligraphy initiated by contemporary calligrapher Ma Yongan. Yan's style is like a pen, revealing the front, using the pen in the middle, and taking the momentum from the lower right. It not only inherits the traditional calligraphy, but also differs from the traditional calligraphy, showing a distinctive new calligraphy style.
