Li Dakun’s personal experience

At the age of twelve, he became a disciple of Mr. Long Xiuzhi, a famous calligrapher in northern Jiangsu. Under his guidance, he studied ancient inscriptions and calligraphy. He specializes in regular script and is good at Yan Liu. His cursive writing is vigorous and graceful, bold and elegant, and full of changes. He uses the masculine style of Wei stele calligraphy and blends it with the rhyme of cursive writing to form a personal calligraphy style. Li Dakun's calligraphy works have had an impact on society and have been highly praised by his colleagues in the calligraphy industry. The Chinese Calligraphy and Painting Correspondence University appointed him as an associate professor and taught for ten years. He was named an outstanding teacher twice and received spiritual and material rewards. He has participated in many national, provincial, and prefecture-level book exhibitions. He has won many awards in large-scale national calligraphy competitions. Many domestic professional cultural newspapers and periodicals have solicited contributions to publish his works. His works are collected by more than ten museums including the Zhou Enlai Memorial Hall in Huai'an, Jiangsu, the Chen Ziang Memorial Hall in Sichuan, and the Qufu Museum, the hometown of Confucius in Shandong. His calligraphy inscriptions are found in six places including the Forest of Steles in the Hanlin Garden in Kaifeng, Henan, Xiaoxian, Anhui, and the cliffs of Rizhao River. His calligraphy works have been introduced to Japan, The United States, Germany, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong and other countries and regions. In recent years, calligraphy works have been exhibited in Japan at the invitation of the Tokyo Calligraphy Association, and have been published in the association's journal many times. Li Dakun's profile and works have been included in many classics such as "Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Paintings and Calligraphers" and "Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Painters and Calligraphers". He also wrote more than 50 plaques for local and other government agencies, schools, factories and shops. Li Dakun was a member of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Research Association for the Elderly; a member of the Shandong Calligraphers Association; a consultant to the Linyi Calligraphers Association; the vice president of the Shandong Branch of the Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Research Institute; the vice president of the Linyi Painting and Calligraphy Research Association for the Elderly; and the Linyi Couplet Association.
