[Appreciation of Ancient Poetry and Prose] Sitting Alone on Jingting Mountain by Li Bai, Tang Dynasty
All the birds are flying high, and the lonely cloud is alone.
The only one I never tire of seeing is Jingting Mountain.
The weather is clear, the sunset may be casting on Jingting Mountain, and the shadows of birds can no longer be seen in the sky. The only colorful cloud gradually disappeared. But the poet sitting alone in Jingting Mountain has not gone back yet, and he doesn't want to go back. What made him so trance-like? It turns out that the poet discovered that Jingting Mountain, which he loved and never got tired of, was also looking at him in a new light, affectionate and so harmonious with each other that it was really "hard to tell you the beauty of it"! p>
"All the birds are flying high, and the lonely cloud is alone." The two sentences describe the things in front of you, but they are not purely descriptions of scenery. They also have the effect of arousing emotion and "excitement". The birds quickly fled into the forest, and even the lonely cloud refused to stay in the sky for a while. In the poet's opinion, they were all "not willing to care about me". This meaning can be understood from the fourth sentence "only". The two sentences use the words "end", "solitary", and "alone" in succession, and the title of the poem also states "sitting alone", revealing a sense of loneliness. This kind of loneliness is the loneliness of Qu Yuan's "Everyone is drunk and I am awake alone" and Chen Ziang's loneliness of "never see the ancients before and never see the newcomers after".
"I never tire of looking at each other, only Jingting Mountain." If the first couplet is about evoking emotion, this couplet is directly lyrical. The poet used figurative language to say that although "birds" and "lonely clouds" turned their backs on me, they could not completely isolate me. What is with me and close to my heart is Jingting Mountain, which is much greater than them. In the sentence "I never tire of seeing each other", the words "phase" and "two" appear synonymously again and again, emphasizing the close spiritual fit between the poet and Jingting Mountain. It breaks the feeling of "loneliness" in the first couplet. "Only" doesn't mean too little, but it carries a tone of pride and contentment. It’s the tone of “One confidant is enough in life”. If the first couplet implies the poet's unyielding and uncompromising attitude, "I never tire of looking at each other, only Jingting Mountain", on the other hand, it expresses a cold disregard for reality and is a vivid reflection of the poet's personality. In this poem, "We never tire of looking at each other, only Jingting Mountain." Not only do people look at mountains, but Jingting Mountain never tires of looking at people. Xin Qiji, a great poet in the Southern Song Dynasty, once expressed his meaning in a sentence: "I see how charming the green mountains are, and I expected that the green mountains should love me in this way. Their emotions and appearance are slightly similar." The personification of the mountain greatly highlights the poet's subjective spirit and expresses his proud, optimistic, confident and positive attitude towards life. This technique is a manifestation of Li Bai's positive romantic poetic style.
〔Modern Prose〕 Jingting Mountain has endured through the ages since Li Bai wrote poems and praised it, earning it a long-lasting reputation as a poetry mountain in the south of the Yangtze River.
Three kilometers north of Xuanzhou City, an ancient city in southern Anhui Province, there is a solemn and elegant gatehouse when you turn left from the highway. On the gate, there is a huge plaque of "Jingting Mountain" inscribed by the famous calligrapher Chu Tunan and a calligraphy by Wang Xiaju. The inscription "Never get tired of seeing each other".
About fifty meters ahead from the gate, it is the first scenic spot in the Jingting Mountain Scenic Area. On both sides of the statue of Li Bai, on the left is the Jingting Lake with pavilions and weeping willows and rippling cruise ships; on the right is the rich Jingting Lake There is a colorful children's paradise. From the children's paradise, go up to the left for about 500 meters, and you will find the twin towers of Guangjiao Temple, a national key cultural relic protection unit. Guangjiao Temple has long been destroyed by the war, and the remaining bricks and ruins still retain a bit of ancient charm, but the twin towers have been renovated. The ancient pagoda has lasted for thousands of years, showing the long and immortal history of Chinese civilization.
Go up the mountain from the twin towers, pass through a peach orchard, and the road leads directly to the Pantheon at the foot of the mountain. This is an ancient residential building in southern Anhui with four waterways and two opposite sides. It displays the items built in Xuancheng. Portraits and essays of ten historical figures with great style and close friendship with Jingting Mountain, including Xie Wei, Li Bai, Han Yu, Wen Tianxiang, Mei Yaochen...
Walk a few hundred meters from the Pantheon. At the entrance of the mountain, there is an ancient Zhaoting Pavilion and a stone square called "Gu Zhaoting". A monument with the inscription "Jiangnan Poetry Mountain" by the contemporary celebrity *** is erected on the left side, which is particularly conspicuous. Passing through the stone square and continuing to climb along the winding stone steps, you will see vigorous old trees, waves in the sea of ??bamboo, fragrant tea gardens, and the crisp chirping of birds from time to time, which really doubles the interest. In the ancient and elegant "Green Snow Teahouse" on the mountainside, visitors can not only lean on the railings and overlook the beautiful scenery of "River City is like a picture", but also taste the fragrant historical tea. Above the tea house is the ancient "Cuiyun Temple". The loud chanting of Buddhists gives this famous mountain in the south of the Yangtze River a mysterious color. The "Tiger Peeping Well" on the left side of the nunnery has long, moist and clear water. It is both rare and magical on this mountainside.
Further up, there is "Taibai Sitting Alone in the Tower". Ouyang Zhongshi's elegant and powerful book plaque hangs high on the lintel, and Li Bai sits in the main hall with an air of immortality, seeming to be forever chanting "We will never tire of looking at each other." , there is only Jingting Mountain." If it is misty and misty, the white clouds and fog here are mixed, and endless dreams are surging. When people come here, they feel like they are in heaven. When the sky is high and the clouds are clear, standing in front of the solitary building and looking around in the wind, I feel a sense of elegance. The green mountains, the pavilions and boats dotted with red eaves and flying red eaves, restore the humanities of Jiangnan Poetry Mountain. style. In the distance, the Shuiyang River is as clear and quiet as a mountain city surrounded by mountains, and the fishing sails of Nanyi Lake are faintly visible. At this time, people will naturally recite the poem inscribed by Chen Yi: "The sound of the oars under the Jingting Mountain is soft, and the rain falls on the river and the sky is like sleepwalking." . Is the soul of Li Xie’s poem still there? The light of the lake will break through the sorrow of thousands of years. ”
Of course, Jingting Mountain will make you linger with its warmth and beauty.

[Folk Literature] According to legend, a long time ago, there lived a family of hard-working and kind-hearted tea farmers on Jingting Mountain. Everyone in the farmhouses within a few dozen miles of Jingting Mountain praises Miss Luxue for her kindness, hard work and intelligence.
At that time, Jingting Mountain was as green as a patch of green. At the foot of the mountain, between Snake Mountain and Mopan Mountain, is a deep canyon. The valley there is deep and quiet, shrouded in mist, the climate is mild, the soil is fertile, and lush tea leaves grow every year. During the picking season in spring, people can expect the fragrant tea, but cannot get it due to the steep mountain roads. Generation after generation, they have left behind deep regrets.
Time flies, and time educates people. Miss Lvxue grew up year by year. From the time she began to understand the thoughts of the mountain people to experiencing this regret firsthand, she determined to pick this precious mountain tea to increase the income of the villagers and enrich their lives. So, without telling her parents and family, she took the tea basket and set foot on the mountain road. However, after passing the dangerous mountain road, when they reached the cliff where the two mountains intersected, they finally fell into the canyon due to difficulty in supporting them. The beautiful wish of Green Snow Girl turned into an endless echo in the valley. The people of Jingting Mountain and the parents of Miss Luxue were devastated. After grieving, the mountain people began to cut stones and create roads, and finally opened up this dangerous mountain road.
In the canyon where Green Snow Girl dedicated her life, the tea leaves of the following year grew more watery, lush and beautiful. The tea leaves collected along this mountain road are brewed, and the soup is clear and beautiful, with steaming clouds and mist appearing like auspicious clouds. Under the mist, the tea leaves are like snowflakes falling, or like a goddess scattering flowers. People say that this is the reappearance of Green Snow Girl’s spirit. Later, people changed it to "Jingting Green Snow". As for this tea becoming a tribute from all dynasties for the enjoyment of emperors and elders, that was a later matter. (Compiled by Pan Jiadong)
