Signature: Chen Dongjiu wrote in Shanghai during the Spring Festival of the Year of the Horse.

Chen Dongjiu was born in Linxiang, Yueyang, Hunan. He graduated from the English Department of the University in the early 1970s and studied in Britain in the mid-1990s. He used to be a middle school teacher, director of teaching and research section, director of teaching research institute, director of TV station and vice chairman of Calligraphers Association, and now he is the deputy director of Beijing Zhongtian Hualin Cultural Exchange Center and the president of JD.COM Calligraphy Research Institute.

He likes calligraphy since he was a child. He studied Tang Kai first, and then Han Li copied the Northern Wei Dynasty. He often read the preface of Lanting Collection, especially the works of Yan, Ou and Wang, and then dabbled in sages and studied with many teachers. He studied books for more than forty years, insisted on clinical practice, and had all kinds of books, and his heart and hands were smooth.

His calligraphy is a blend of the present and the ancient, with novel ideas and eclecticism, and has its own style because of its shape. His works cast a simple, lovely and naive unique book style. His emotions are expressed between the lines, expressing his feelings and interests, and reflecting his strong self-awareness and artistic personality.
