Meng Man: Interpreting the Best Self with "Diligence"

Editor's Note: Model Reading (Season 2) is the first youth reading sharing program jointly created by China Youth Daily, Zhongqing Online and Kuwo Music. Officially launched on February 28! In this program, we invited teacher Mengman, and she shared her story with us.

"Wu Zetian", "Princess Taiping" and "The Storm of the Sui Dynasty" ... Friends who often watch "Lecture Room" will not be unfamiliar with the name of Teacher Meng Man. Just the right humor and just the right interpretation impressed many audiences. Boring historical facts usually become clear and easy to understand under the interpretation of teacher Meng Man. Many viewers laughed and said, Never listen to Mr. Roman's program before going to bed, because it will definitely make you more energetic.

As a teacher, Meng Man knows the importance of diligence. Although everyone plays a different role in life, diligence must be one of the most practical and reliable ways to interpret his role well. With this belief, she came to the scene of the program Model Reading jointly created by China Youth Daily, Zhongqing Online and Kuwo Music to share Mr. Lin Yutang's biography of Su Dongpo and lead everyone to feel the diligent attitude of Su Shi, a famous writer in the Northern Song Dynasty.

When he was young, Su Shi was a very diligent person. He once said to his disciples, "When I was young, I had to copy every book from beginning to end. Every time I copy a book, I use a different font. This time, I copy the script, and next time I copy the script, while practicing. "

In his view, after copying a book word for word, the profound understanding of that book is by no means comparable to reading it many times. Talent makes him get twice the result with half the effort, but his success lies in hard work, which is also the original intention of teacher Meng Man to share Su Dongpo's biography.

"Many times, we must look further. The diligence we have paid at a certain moment is likely to be reflected and harvested inadvertently in the future. " Meng Man, a middle school teacher, didn't have much spare time to study because of the tight curriculum, so she thought of a way to take the spare time from school to self-study at night every afternoon as a fixed reading time and go to the school library to see some world famous works that are usually out of reach. Although in this process, she lost a lot of leisure time with her peers, but it was this effort that made her gain more knowledge.

Teacher Meng Man's love for classical literature and diligence in knowledge are largely influenced by his parents.

My mother is an English teacher. Once she had a toothache, she put two buckets in the office. One barrel is full of cold water, and the other barrel is empty. When she has a toothache, she gargles with cold water to relieve the pain and spits it into another bucket, so as not to delay the students' learning process. My father, as a Chinese teacher, never takes a textbook when teaching. He is always talking behind his back, always so confident. But she also knows that behind this self-confidence is the countless time and energy that her father spent preparing lessons.

"Even a stupid person, even a mediocre person, can be rewarded as long as he works hard." The diligence learned from parents made Meng Man praised by many people when he was a professor at the School of History and Culture of Minzu University of China. In her opinion, even the most talented people can't achieve any great cause without the foundation of diligence.

For Meng Man, who just became a teacher, preparing lessons until two or three in the morning has become a common practice. In order to achieve a good classroom effect, she has to practice against the wall three times in each class, and she knows exactly what knowledge points to talk about in one minute and where to make students laugh. Teacher Meng Man knows that only by choosing diligence can we step onto the platform more calmly and achieve the most real achievements.

For the upsurge of Chinese studies brought by cultural programs such as "Chinese Poetry Conference", Teacher Meng Man believes that it is not only the credit of this program, but also the credit of this era. "China has now passed the stage of food and clothing, and there will be such a spiritual pursuit. There are many beautiful, beautiful and real things worth inheriting. " Teacher Meng Man said, "The program itself should try to arouse people's enthusiasm from the angle that can arouse feelings most. The collision between the program and the times and the people can only be reflected in the form of Chinese studies. "

"I haven't achieved so much in my life, but diligence has also benefited me a lot." From five lectures on Wu Zetian, Princess Taiping, Song of Eternal Sorrow, Storm of the Sui Dynasty, Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty and Yang Guifei, to being a guest critic at the China Idiom Conference, the Chinese Poetry Conference and the China riddle conference, Teacher Meng Man did not expect or wait for the unknown future, but chose to grasp the present, face life diligently and put it into action.

Life is hard work and no gain. Diligence requires hard work and sweat, but as long as we find the right direction, coupled with unremitting diligence, then we will certainly have tangible gains in life.
