Momo's interesting conversation Ouyang Tong

Ouyang Tong: Ouyang Tong, whose date of birth and death is unknown, was a calligrapher in the Tang Dynasty. Zi Tongshi, the son of Ou Yangxun, was born in Linxiang, Tanzhou (now Changsha, Hunan). At the beginning of the official visit to Lan Tailing, Yi Fengzhong moved to Zhongshu Scheeren and sealed Bo Hai Gong. In the early years of Jian 'an (690), the secretary was given a useful sentence, and in the second year (69 1), he was given a photograph. Ouyang Tong was an orphan in his early years, and his mother Xu taught him to inherit his father's calligraphy. Ouyang Tong is good at calligraphy and is famous for it. Father and son have the same name, nicknamed "Ouyang". Tang Duyi's Shu Shu Fu said: "Learning has its quantity, and books have its quantity. The father is in charge of the national ceremony, and the son is in the temple. It changes with the luck, because the dragon is light. " Handed down works include Master Daoyin's Monument and Epitaph of Spring Children.

Father-son calligrapher

In the history of ancient calligraphy, there were Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi in Jin Dynasty, Ou Yangxun and Ouyang Tong in Tang Dynasty and Mi Fei and Mi Youren in Song Dynasty. We are going to talk about Ou Yangxun's son Ouyang Tong.

Ouyang Tong lost his father when he was young, and his mother Xu taught him to learn his father's "European-style" regular script when he was very young. Afraid that he is lazy and not diligent, Xu often gives him money to go to the streets to buy his father's ink and come back to study to remind him to study hard. In order to encourage him, Xu often tells stories about hard work. Under the strict requirements of his mother, Ouyang Tong repeatedly studied his father's regular script ink, and did not dare to relax. He tried to copy his words in order to sell them. Over time, Ouyang Tong finally wrote a unique European-style letter, which inherited his father's calligraphy style.

Ouyang Tong has a title, but he is not satisfied. He keeps learning and making progress. In practice, he deeply realized that he was following the trend, writing too much like his father, but he didn't have his own style and personality. At this rate, it is difficult to achieve much. Recognizing this, he began to seek change. He carefully analyzed the style of his father's regular script and decided to learn from Beibei, starting with square folding and changing the brushwork. Ouyang Tong achieved success and developed regular script with its own style. His regular script is more crooked than his father's, and Fang Bi is a round pen, which shows his spirit; The handwriting is more rigorous than his father, more dangerous than his father, more vivid, more explicit, more pen-picking, and quite strong and powerful. Ouyang Tong tried to show his personality: frank, clean and resolute. So his title is very popular, just like his father's, called Ouyang Daxiao.

From Ouyang Tong, it is not difficult to understand that the important reason why Zi can be as famous as his father is not to learn from his father and inherit his family's knowledge, but to inherit first and then innovate! Only by writing a style and personality different from those of our ancestors can we be recognized by history and truly equal to our parents. This is why in the history of calligraphy, there are many fathers and sons who are good at calligraphy, but there are only a handful of equally famous fathers and sons.
