At the beginning of Spring Breeze, Du Ya turns to Hui Hui. What does it mean to hide pearls in autumn water?

As far as I know, this is a seven-character couplet written by Xia Tonghe, the champion of the Reform Movement of 1898, with a gold wax notebook.

Xia Tonghe, whose real name is Jiping and whose word is Yongqing, is from Maha Prefecture (now Majiang County) in Guizhou Province. 1898 champion, a famous calligrapher in the late Qing Dynasty.

The theme of the upper and lower couplets is two words: elegance and sincerity.

From the perspective of disassembly, elegance and nobility are like the fragrance of orchids brought by spring breeze. Hui Hui is an orchid here.

Bright, the original meaning is extended to describe an open mind. Here refers to an open mind, such as clear autumn water, with a beautiful character like pearls and jade in it.

Tip: My dear friend Ju Kun, elegant and upright, has the same name as Xia Qing.

Seal: Xia Tongyu seal, champion of the Reform Movement of 1898.

It can be seen that it is a gift and a compliment.
