What's the story of Lanting Qushui?

On the third day of March in the ninth year of Yonghe (A.D. 353), Wang Xizhi, a famous calligrapher and folk historian in Jin Dynasty, and 42 people including Xie An and Sun Chuo held a tomb-repairing activity in Lanting. This Confucian style and elegance has been passed down to this day. Wang Xizhi recorded this in the preface to the Lanting Collection: "There is another clear stream, which shines left and right, thinking it is flowing and winding water. Sitting in the second place, although not as prosperous as the string of silk and bamboo, it is enough to talk about love. " After the swaddling ceremony, Wang Xizhi and others inherited the ancient customs and wrote a poem, which left an eternal story.

The original meaning of "Shang" is a container for wine in ancient times. Shuowen: "If you really say' I', it's no use saying' I'." Notes to Shuo Wen Duan: "Han Shi said that Jue, Yi, Yi, Jiao, San and Wu were all called Jue, but they were all called Yi. For example, "Please continue. The Book of Rites is like "Think about drawing a pot yourself and make the court happy." Tao Jin Yuanming's "Gui Xi Ci"

The custom of "meandering water flowing" can be traced back to the early Zhou Dynasty. "Zhou Li Chun Guan" said, "When the witch is old, she will take a bath." Zheng Xuan's note: "In the old days, we went to the water in March. Bath: it means bathing with fragrant herbal soup. " In the Book of Songs Zheng Yan, "Only Qin and Yan can have it, and only scholars and women can have it." Han's poem notes: "It is said that the peach blossom was underwater in March this year in order to arouse the soul, continue the spirit and eliminate the filth of the year."

Every year, the fourth day of the first three months of the lunar calendar is designated as the "Shangsi" Festival. "Book of Rites": "On the fourth day of March, the government and the people were all clean in the east water, saying that washing and removing phlegm was a big net." Guangxu's "Historical Records" notes: "On the third day of March, the water broke and Wei broke." Zhang Heng's "Nan Fu": "The spring of late spring, the morning of Yuan Dynasty, is neat and neat." On this day, officials and people will go to the water's edge to wash, which is not only popular among the people, but also the emperor and empress. This is called "repairing".

After Wei and Jin Dynasties, Shangsi Festival was held on the third day of March. "March 3rd is Shangsi Day, just like after Wei and Jin Dynasties. There are still three days in the Han Dynasty. See Song Shuming Xie's Five Miscellanies for details. After the "restoration" of this day, people will hold a picnic and a feast of poetry and wine. "Chronicle of Jingchu's Age" records: "On March 3, the gentry went out of the pond swamp in Zhu Jiang and drank a glass of water."

The so-called "meandering water" refers to the people who are playing. The diversion ring bends into a canal, which is called "meandering water", and then the "meandering water" containing wine floats on the water surface, making it drift downstream. The cup floated to the crooked corner. When the cup slowly passes in front of the guests, you can pick it up and drink it in one breath, and then sing poetry for entertainment. This is called Qushui. "Jack" is usually made of wood, small and light, with a bracket at the bottom, which can float in the water. In addition, there are pottery cups with ears on both sides, also known as "feathers". Because it is heavier than a wooden cup, put it on the lotus leaf when you play, so you can go with the flow.
