1944 65438+On February 24th, Shanghai Grand View Garden was completed, and a special exhibition of Wu paintings was held. The poster published a short comment signed "Friends of Art", which recorded Wu's life and said, "The famous painter Wu is named Tong. Tong can play the piano. In ancient times, there was a' copulation', which had a history of all kinds of pianos, so it was named Qin Mu. Wu, Wujiang, laity. Today, people in the Art Garden are familiar with Qin Mu's name, and many people don't know that Tong Wu is Qin Mu. When I was young, besides studying poetry books, I also liked to study Chinese painting. After the weak crown, the museum is located in Ponzi, Xing Wu. Mr. Pang Xuzhai loves his brushwork and beautiful hair, and he will make great achievements in the future. He also published the handwriting of famous Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, and let him copy it day and night, and discuss it imperceptibly. It took more than 20 years to show what he did, and everyone who saw it was amazed, so he became famous in the art garden. In Mr. Zhou's long curtain, he won the favor of the contemporary era, talked about calligraphy and painting, once again roamed the north and south of the river and traveled all over the world, with hills and gullies in his chest, which broadened his artistic conception. It can be said that after learning from the ancients and participating in nature, the achievements are different from those of the endless stream. Today (24th) coincides with the completion of the "Grand View Garden", and an exhibition of paintings is specially invited to be held in the garden, which lasted nearly 200 minutes for seven days. People who love painting look first. "
Since then, with the shift of the focus of Ponzi Studio from Nanxun to Shanghai, Wu also arrived at Ponzi Cottage in Shanghai around 1924. On the one hand, he continued to copy famous paintings of past dynasties, imitated various brushwork and worked hard to create; On the one hand, make friends in painting, publishing and epigraphy and hold art exhibitions. 1926 participated in the 4th Sino-Japanese Painting Exhibition, which was well received and enjoyed a growing reputation. During this period, Wu was still writing in Morning Wind Tower, except Ponzi in the thatched cottage. After 1927, Wu was invited by a well-off student to live in Honglai House and began to sell paintings and take care of the students. Later, I lived in Xinzha Road, Pushi Road and Daxing Square of Datong Road. The studios were all signed "Lengfeng Caotang", and later "Wu Tong Bookstore". Every once in a while, he will go to Pang Yuanji's house for a few days to discuss painting. He visited all the famous ancient paintings in Pang Yuanji's collection. The latest one he has seen now is 1946' s Xiashan Waterfall copied by Wang Shimin in Suzhou. The original was donated to Nanjing Museum by Mr. Pang Zenghe. Pang Yuanji's three grandchildren worshipped Wu Weishi to learn painting. They said that my grandfather made friends with two painters, one is Lu Hui and the other is Qin Mu.
Wu loves poetry. In 1930s, he took an active part in the singing remuneration of the Ming Society, which was led by Mr. Sun, with young friends as the main body. He is good at painting and painting poems, and his calligraphy is neat and elegant. For example, Lin Wenzhong (Zexu)' s poetic Journey to Mount Huashan describes the adventures of Mount Huashan, and through Lin Zexu's ascent to Mount Huashan (together with Jiang County Order), he laments the mountains: "The mountains are steep and natural, but the bones are not flesh", expressing his heroism. Wu has never been to an art school or worshipped a teacher. He only took the actions of the ancients as a teacher, deliberately imitated the effect, explored the roots, worked diligently, and never slacked off making fakes. The masterpieces of the ancients are not for sale. They are observed on the desk and stamped with their own seals at the corresponding parts to show the difference from the original works. Antique is an integral part of China traditional painting. Most of Qin and Mu's imitations are not genuine antiques, but their brushwork and style. We should grasp the characteristics of pens used by various painting schools, absorb their essence and use them properly in our own paintings. In the Wu era, the price of his imitations was relatively higher than other general works. Therefore, there is copying and imitation in every period. Over time, perseverance, painting skills and appreciation skills have all improved.
Wu likes traveling abroad, creating and holding art exhibitions. 194 1 year to Shi Xia, Zhejiang, half a year. After War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression's victory, his family moved to Suzhou, Jiangsu, and lived in Zhi Min Road for more than four years. When he paints, he signs his name "Tai Su" and "Wu Chu". As the exhibition of 1948 in Changshu Peilun Apartment was a great success, the creative environment of Yushan Fudi was very good. Even at the invitation of an old friend Mr. Wu Jinglue, at the beginning of 1950, the family moved to Changshu, Jiangsu Province and settled in Tianning Temple Lane. For more than half a century, Changshu became his second hometown. In a short time, I went out and created more works. Take Wuxi as an example. 1947 had a sketch of the landscape of Liyuan, 1949 collaborated with Wuxi painter Zhu and others to paint in Liangxi, 195 1 05 Wu held a solo exhibition in Wuxi (said by Mr. Shen Juechu). Most of his solo exhibitions are held in Shanghai once or twice a year. After liberation, Wu mainly worked and studied in Shanghai. 1952 Participated in collective study organized by Shanghai Artists Association. The next year, he filled out the form of Shanghai Literature and History Museum and received a living allowance. Every time I go back to Changshu, I always get together with my painting friends in the teahouse to exchange painting skills. At that time, he also took part in the "donating airplane guns" activity in Changshu with his own works. 1953 Shanghai died of cerebral hemorrhage.
