What is the origin of Jin Yong’s pen name? Why?

When Jin Yong and Liang Yusheng made an agreement to write martial arts novels, they had thought about the issue of pen names. Later, he decided to split the character "Yong" in his name into two and became "Jin Yong". This became his pen name.

Mr. Jin Yong has also used other pen names, such as Yao Fulan (English transliteration of "Your Friend") when writing about movies, and Lin Huan when writing about movies and movie scripts. It also left an impression among readers.

Jin Yong was awarded many honors throughout his life, including:

In 2000, he was awarded the Grand Bauhinia Medal, the highest honor awarded by the Hong Kong government.

In 2001, the International Astronomical Society named an asteroid numbered 10930 discovered by the Beijing Observatory as "Jin Yong".

In March 2003, the Jin Yong Library was opened at the Cultural Center on New Avenue in Macau. Jin Yong attended the opening in person and served as an honorary consultant. The library has Chinese, English, Japanese, Thai and Indonesian versions of Jin Yong's novels.

In 2005, the University of Cambridge awarded Jin Yong an honorary doctorate in literature. Jin Yong then went to Cambridge University at the age of 81 to study for a master's degree and a doctoral degree in history. He is expected to complete his studies in two to three years.

In December 2006, he completed his master's thesis at Cambridge University, "The imperial succession in early Tang China".
